2012 GRAMMYS: ADELE EMERGES BIGGEST WINNER + FULL LIST OF WINNERS

Six of six! Who does that? Well her name is Adele and she walked away as the biggest winner from the Staples Centre where the 54thGrammy Awards was held on Sunday, February 12, 2012.
The 21-year old whose album made the top selling albums in 2011 walked away with the awards for ‘Record of the Year’, ‘Album of the Year’, ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Best Pop Solo Performance’, ‘Best Pop vocal album’ and ‘Best short form music video’.

“This record is inspired by something that is really normal and everyone’s been through it..a rubbish relationship”, the British soul singer said when accepting the final award of the night.
She later performed one of her biggest songs ‘Rolling in the deep’, her first performance after the infamous throat surgery in November. She received a standing ovation.
It wasn’t all about Adele though as the ceremony also saw a number of performances from awards winners, including the Foo Fighters, Chris Brown and Lady Antebellum.
The death of Whitney Houston however brought a solemn feeling to the awards show especially when R&B singer Jennifer Hudson performed ‘I will Always Love You’ as a tribute to the late singer who died just a day before the awards.
Nigerian afrobeat singer Femi Kuti who was nominated in the Best World Music Album’ for his ‘Africa for Africa’ album lost out for the third time to Malian band Tiinariwen for the album ‘Tassili’. Kuti did not attend the event.
