A couple crashed a $220,000 Lamborghini sports car and abandoned it on the highway just hours after buying it from an Orange County dealership.
The smashed-up supercar was left on the side of a road in La Jolla, California, on Monday night with paperwork from the Lamborghini Newport Beach dealership inside.
Police say the 2008 Lamborghini Murcielago left Interstate 5 at high speed and smashed into a wall on La Jolla Village Drive.
A man and a woman were spotted running the vehicle which was found empty with its front end smashed at about 11.45pm by police.
Lt. Kevin Mayer of the San Diego Police Department told MailOnline on Tuesday that officers are trying to track down the owner of the car and the person who was driving at the time of the crash.
However, there is no indication that the vehicle was stolen.
