Day 2 – People still waiting for new Pope

Around 1.2 billion Roman Catholics, including 95 percent of the Polish population, are still waiting for a new Pope, after black smoke poured from the Sistine Chapel chimney, Wednesday.

A large crowd, hoping for white smoke to appear, watched under umbrellas in St Peter's Square as the second plume of black smoke emerged from the chimney at 11.40 CET, after the Conclave failed to find a new leader of the Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday evening.

After two inconclusive ballots this morning, the 115 cardinals will vote again at around 16.50 CET this afternoon after a break for lunch.
