Islamic extremist group, Ansaru has released a video online showing the alleged bodies of some of the seven hostages kidnapped in Bauchi state.
The video captioned in Arabic is titled; ‘The killing of seven Christian hostages in Nigeria’ shows a gunman holding a rifle close by and another clip reveals three male corpses, with one having a head wound which suggests that he might have been killed by a gunshot wound to the head from a high-powered weapon.
The hostages – one each from Italy, Britain and Greece and four from Lebanon were working for a Lebanese firm Setraco.
Ansaru, in a press statement Saturday, took responsibility for the deaths saying they killed the seven foreigners who were kidnapped from a Lebanese construction site in northern state of Bauchi in February 16.
“British and Nigerian security forces killed some Muslims in their attempt to rescue the Christian hostages, therefore we killed the Christians,” Ansaru said in the statement.
The Nigerian federal authority and state government are yet to confirmed the killings.
