A heavy fully loaded 40-feet container truck fell on a government meat van yesterday at Ikeja along bus stop, crushing a passer-by, while several people sustained injuries.
Eyewitnesses said the truck was trying to avoid colliding with the policemen who were chasing a motorcycle rider (okada) when it swerved off the road and fell on a government meat van killing a passerby identified as Samuel Ogunnaike.
Samuel, a phone dealer in computer village Ikeja, was on his way to his office before he met his untimely death. According to an eyewitness, Samuel was trapped for about four hours before his body was retrieved from the wrecked vehicle. Sad!
