Are You Ready for Him?

Tamer time is about to be all over the place, he is gearing up for a long summer of party times....but I think the world cup will keep us all busy and ok, who does not like Tamer Hosny? even those who hate him, they confess they love his music...even those in the age of his dad confess that their kids love him...Yes, I know he is annoying at times, but he makes good music....he is not living next door to me....thanks good, but his music renews itself.

Hate him if it makes you feel better, but you cannot, cannot escape his music, his face is all over the Middle East, turn on an TV in Arabia and you will either see a music video, one of his movies, or an interview with him playing.

Nancy Ajram Captures The Flag

Nancy does not give up her title without a fight....she has not released an album in about two years, but she is back with one great single after another. Since she has gotten herself married and had a baby, many stars wrote her off, her managers think otherwise. She proved here that she wants to continue to be in the news for a good reason of course.

Now she released a single song, belhadaway, take it easy she is asking her loved one to do just that. This is one song that will be well-received by her fans throughout the Arab world, but the people of Egypt will play this song over and over this summer season. Nancy knows she is strong star in that country and that what her new song does using Egyptian lyrics, incorporating Egyptian dance tunes, make a great song....I hope you like it. Yes, this one song will get her concert deals....and remember this is the first Nancy single since January of this year when she released Salimoly 'Aleeh.

Joe Joe, What Do We Know?

If the father of loved one refuses to approve your marriage, here is what you do: Kidnap him, tie him to a chair and have people dance around him, and then dress in a suit kiss forehead and then he will come around. You un-tie him now!

That's what Joe Ashkar, the Lebanese handsome singer (he also owns a lash Lebanon casino) is telling us in his جو أشقر حبيب قلبي. The love of my heart (some cheese please!)

OK Joe, had a number of good songs with mass appeal, I think this one is not his best, but I am sure many dreamy women will give it a listen. I do not think Joe needs the money like many Arab stars do, so you know he is not making his music for solely for money...I know I admire this much

Black Unit Born in Gaza Palestine

The next big Rap group from Palestine is Black Unit

Here is a recent clip from their concert in Cairo where they also go to school....

amazing lyrics,

This time they collaborate with Shadia Mansour, fresh form her Kaffyah song.

I did meet Mohammad Wafy last year on the Rafah borders as he manged to get out (he has duel citizenship with Egypt)

Bear the sloppy fan video, but I like the stories they bring out about Gaza and especially Gaza under the last total Israeli war. I cna understand if some are not too excited it about this recent form of Art more Palestinians have been using to get their message out. Listen to their song about the Gaza siege and if you have a little bit of background on the Palestine question, you will appreciate it.

As you can see from this content, there are many Palestinians attending school in Cairo so you can tell from the energy of the crowd. At minute 6:50 you will hear their most popular song that was featured in the hit documentary Sling Shot Hip Hop two years ago

Murex D'Or 2010 a Simple Wow Won't Do

Murex D'Or 2010, if you had any doubts that Arab entertainment is nothing short of glamorous, all you need to do is watch those clips and know that not only do Arab starts deliver great music and many of it, Arabic party planners are nothing short of genius! Yes, lots of self promotion, fake smiles and pretty outfits, but it seems that this is Murex D'Or 2010 is becoming the talk of Arab celebrities where they can walk on a red carpet and show their off entourage. This is the 10th round of this annual gala, and it seems it has become a coveted event, I am positive that any celebrity invited would make an effort to come, and those who do not get invited, they will do what it takes to get in.

It seems that Haifa Wahbe, Elissa and Carol, the three biggest Lebanese singers have made peace and showed each other some love. Elissa is filtering with Wael Kfouri, as she has always done not so much for having a crush on h
im, but rather because she wants to tell other females that she gets what she wants. Elaph.com has a great coverage and photos on the event.

One Heck of and Oldie

Abdelhaleem Hafiz, the Egyptian legendary singer has stopped making music for decades now, but his good work continues to amaze us. He made music for generations, men and women can enjoy his music and sincerity. Young and old can appreciate his talent and his tender and sweet voice.

Here is a song of his that gets little attention. Khosarah "What a loss", his song is rightfully titled from a movie he made ages ago, Fatah Ahlamy, the boy of my dreams. But Big Pimpin borrowed some of his work and introduced his to a wider audience. Enjoy, I know I do everytime I play one of his songs.

Not Just A Song, A Message

Maher Zain, the Lebanese multinational Muslim singer is one singer that has found his zen. "Thank You Allah" Maher's album that has been making waves in the Arab and Muslims music scenes. Knowing that the music scene is saturated with love songs, he is not singing just about love. Maher is tackling issues of higher love, love for the divine. His music videos do not have dancers or cool props, he manages to highlight issues of concerns to his fans. His previous music video was animation about a little Palestinian girl resisting the occupation. His new music video is another wonderful treat that speaks in so many languages, (Awakening Record released it in Arabic, French, Turkish and English)

Themes of poverty, oppression, injustice, occupation and hope are all present in this music video. I am glad that Maher is still making good music closer to the hears of Muslims everywhere, he is one true star that has shown his dedication to good respectful art and the issues of his fans care about. He has volunteered for many Muslim charities in Europe and I hope I get to see him live in concert here in the States.

I ask the fans to buy the CD in order to reward Awakening Record for their risk taking and their willing to let great meaningful music to be heard and enjoyed.
