A suspected chieftain of the Boko Haram believed to be the spokesman of the group Sheikh Abu Kaka was reportedly killed in a pre-dawn attack launched by the Military Joint Task Force in Kano.
Two other high profiles suspected commandants of the group were also arrested by the task force during the attack launched at Hotoro Quaters in the metropolis.
Leadership gathered that the JTF launched the attack in the area following a tip off from some concerned members of the public that the three top chieftains were lurking in the area and planning to cause mayhem in the state capital.
They came all the way from Maiduguri to plan a devastating attack on the state capital but were routed by the JTF Team in an early morning attack
Spokesman of the JTF in Kano, Lt. Ikedichi Iweha confirmed the attack but said he has no nominal register of the group to confirm from the list that was killed among the chieftains.
Iweha said that investigation was going on to ascertain the identity of the chieftains and assured the general public of the teams’ readiness to ensure security in the state.
Iweha also confirmed the incident and said the operation was carried out successfully in the early morning of Monday at the Hotoro Residential area of the state capital.
He declined further comments but stressed that investigation is continuing as members of the task force have cordoned off the area.
