Job Scam rocks Customs again

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has once again raised thealarm over the relentless activities of illegal recruitment syndicate who use the name of the Service to defraud unsuspecting job seeking Nigerians.
This is coming barely two months after the Service paraded 11 suspected members of illegal recruitment syndicate, arrested at various locations in Owerri , Sokoto and Abuja , in an operation that was conducted in collaboration with the ICPC and forensic experts from Canada and the United States .

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja yesterday, Deputy Comptroller-Gen
eral (DCG) of Customs , in charge of Human Resources Development , GarbaMarkafi, said, unfortunately while those arrested suspects are undergoing interrogation for a possible prosecution, other criminal elements have continued to use the cyber space to defraud innocent Nigerians promising jobs and non-existentauctions.

“They provide false information that has misled individuals to embark on dragging the person of the Comptroller-General of Customs , DikkoAbdullahi into what they call “nepotism” in a so called recruitment exercise,”Markafi said.
He explained that the suspected criminals have used the name of the NCS to open various fake websitesin addition to fake facebook accounts in the name of the Comptroller-General, which contains fake names of recruited candidates allegedly awaiting training by the Service.
