Kid Cudi leaves Kanye West’s G.O.O.D Music

Kid Cudi has parted ways with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint.

While promoting his upcoming effort, “Indicud,” on Yesi Ortiz’s KPWR (105.9 FM) show Tuesday afternoon, Cudi revealed he’d recently parted ways with the West-fronted camp.

“Man, everything is cool. Everything is peace with everyone on the label, but ... I’m no longer on G.O.O.D. Music. And this is something that no one knows really,” he said.

“Me and Kanye were talking on the phone the other day, and these are things I wanted to talk to him about. About me wanting to start my own direction, and he got it because he’s trying to start his new path, and trying new things as an artist," he continued. "And he was just like, ‘Man, I feel you. It’s cool.’”

The experimental rapper’s status on the imprint was called into question when he rolled out the tracklist to “Indicud.” Twitter was abuzz that the disc, which hits stores later this month, features a range of guests including Kendrick Lamar, Too Short, ASAP Rocky, RZA, Hit-Boy and Michael Bolton, but didn’t boast any spots from the G.O.O.D. camp. Cudi said schedule conflicts, and not ill feelings, kept collaborations from happening.

“This is just from a business standpoint. There’s no beef, there’s no problems with anyone on the label. It’s all love,” Cudi continued. “It’s not a bad thing. It just means that little baby with that dress on ain’t gonna be on my album sleeve.”
