Ex-Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo showed a rare side of himself yesterday at the burial ceremony of Oluwole Awolowo, one of the sons of late Obafemi Awolowo.

Obasanjo was spotted as he hijacked the person pushing the deceased’s mother on a wheelchair.
According to insiders, Obasanjo took on the honour to joyfully drive the aged woman around while greeting visitors who graced her son’s burial on Friday.

The president paid a condolence visit to the Awolowo family over the death of the only surviving son of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo and publisher of the Tribune Newspapers, Chief Oluwole Awolowo, who died in a UK hospital on Wednesday March 27th at the age of 70. The president is pictured above with the late publisher's mother, H.I.D Awolowo.

The President was joined by ex-governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, ex-Chief of General Staff, General Oladipo Diya (rtd), to pay the condolence visit to the matriarch of the Awolowo family.

Jonathan also announced plan to adopt the children of the deceased, who died in London hospital as his children. Jonathan, who arrived Ikenne in a presidential chopper, disclosed that he decided to pay his personal condolence to the matriarch of the Awolowo family and other members of the family because he had been integrated into the family.

Chief Oluwole Awolowo, son of late elder statesman Chief Obafemi Awolowo has died in London this evening after a long battle with an undisclosed illness.
