Coke figures they could get a good deal on unemployed Arab singers who are not making as much money as they used to two years ago. Due to the instability, and violence few have things to sing about and fewer would pay them to do it.
Singers started looking for new revenues streams. Take Mohamad Hamaki, a popular pop star that I am a big fan of. He just got married earlier this year, and with that he has to earn the bread for the house. So what does he do? Firest he released a brown nosing song for Bahrain and how gorgeous that land is. Meanwhile the killing goes on in that country. He got paid well for that song, so that takes care of that little thing called conscious.
Then he just did a cover of a beloved Arabic classic, Ya Moustafa, a lovely song from the Arab classics. Coke Studio is paying Arab stars left and right to promote its brand by singing. I do not hate him for wanting to make a living, I am still not over his song for Bahrain, I thought he had a brain.
