"Holy Ghost" ( Friday ) If I Had My Life To Live Over.

Erma Bombeck was one of my favorite humor columnists but she could also write very poignantly about life and its blessings. One of Erma columns is the one called: if I had my life to live over.
I would have talked less and listened more.

I would have invited friends over to dinner, even if the carpet was
stained and the sofa faded.

I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried
much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.

I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.

I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.

I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.

I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about grass stains.

I would have cried and laughed less while watching television - and more
while watching life.

I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.

I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth
would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.

I would never have bought anything just because it was practical,
wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.

Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was my only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.

When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, "Later. Now
go get washed up for dinner."

There would have been more "I love yous".. more "I'm sorrys"... but
mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every
minute...look at it and really see it... Live it... and never give it back.

Don't forget to stop and smell the roses today! Take time to tell a loved one how much you love them, do something nice for yourself, and stop to give God thanks for all of it.

Holy Ghost (Friday ) Random Post: When Was Happy Holidays Born.

I know we're supposed to be "tolerant" and "inclusive," but I'm tired of being wished "happy holidays" and "season's greetings." I'm tired of "winter breaks" instead of Christmas vacations. I'm tired of all the political correctness associated with this time of year. We wouldn't be having this "time of year" without the birth of Christ.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Luke 2.10-11. I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Happy Birthday 1st Born: Felecia

Today is my sweet daughter birthday. she is 32, wow! were did the years go? It was just yesterday when she was in preschool. Happy Birthday and I wish You many more.
Love your mother.

"Thankful Thursday" ( Random Post) Nostalgic Toys

Parents who grew up in the '70s and '80s are now buying their children the same toys they grew up playing with. According to an article in today's Washington Times, toys including the Easy Bake Oven (I loved this one!), Cabbage Patch Kids, Care Bears, Strawberrry Shortcake and My Little Pony, are all making a comeback, primarily because parents want their children to have the same experiences they did. Most of the toys mentioned I can remember. I know some you can recall them. Some of the early computer games are also finding new fans. Pac-man and Tetris are finding their way back onto the shelves.

The article mentions one toy that I've never even heard of..... what is/are Shrinky Dinks??
Creepy_crawlers Some special "toy" memories I have from growing up in the 1960s: Creepy Crawlers (remember the smell of baking those critters?), Chatty Cathy, Thumbelina, the Magic 8 ball, board games like Sorry and Clue.

What are your favorite toys from the past, ones that you'd like your own children or nieces and nephews to experience?

"Thakful Thursday" (Question) Why Are We Killing Our Selves Over This?

The number of overweight adults and children in the United States is increasing at an alarming rate.the term for more obesity has been described as a “global epidemic” by the World Health Organization, and studies find that over 60 percent of American adults are over weight or obese. At particularly high risk are black American women. The American Heart Association estimates that approximately 77 percent of black American adult females are either overweight or obese.

Being extremely overweight or obese dramatically increases the risk of diabetes ('A condition in which the body\'s cells are less responsive to insulin. This causes more insulin to be released by the pancreas, resulting in too much insulin circulating in the blood. Moderate weight loss and increased physical activity can help type 2 diabetes. There are two components of metabolic syndrome which also includes high blood pressure and abnormal Studies find that black American women are 60 percent more likely to have metabolic syndrome than black American men. The syndrome, in turn, can lead to complications from diabetes (such as blindness or nerve problems) and heart attacks. Black Americans also face a greater risk of strokes particularly if they have high blood pressure.

Again we are killing our selves with a fork or spoon. What do you think, should this be preached from the pulpit on Sunday morning that this to is a sin of glutton? Too crave food to the point that it kills us is a sad thing. So, what can we do about all the information we already have at our disposal? Stop eating our selves too death.

"Thankful" ( Thursday) Question: Where Are The Hymns?

Why have we replace our hymns with contemporary music? Who said it was not working?
Hymns can teach us the art of meditation on scripture this an art we desperately need to relearn. Hymns help us take a theme and turn it over; they let us gaze on it from different angles. Hymns remind us that we can only approach God through the Blood of Jesus. The idea that we only approach God as Christian through the Blood of Christ is too rarely mentioned in most music today. We need deeper, richer and longer looks at the Cross and all that it means. For every one look you take at your sin, take ten looks at the Cross! Hymns focus us on God's promises. We need to recall " The Old Rugged Cross " that is a powerful hymn.

What are some of your favorite Hymns? My favorite hymn is "Because He Lives" God sent His Son they call Him Jesus He came to love heal and forgive He lived and died to buy my pardon an empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives How sweet to hold a new born baby and feel the pride and joy He gives but greater still the calm assurance this child can face uncertain days because He lives and then one day I'll cross the river I'll fight life's final war with pain and then as death gives way to victory I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives.

Bible Study (Wednesday) Question: Should Sex Education Be Taught In School?

Yes if it is abstinence-only sexual education. Abstinence-only curricula promote abstinence as the only acceptable standard for youth-indeed for anyone not in heterosexual marriage. Teaching no sex before marriage is what God word says. What do you think about sex education been taught to school age children?

Bible Study ( Wednesday ) What Happen To Our Youth?

Remember how Sodom and Gomorrah were portrayed? Drunken men with multiple piercings and bright red robes, with one loose woman under each arm. Guess what? That is going on in our culture today. First of all, there's sex. There seem to be neither boundaries nor taboos any more when it comes to sex. Anything goes- from heterosexual to homosexual to bi-,trans-,poly-. and you don't want to know sexual experiences. Sex has become a ubiquitous, cheap, meaningless quest for ever-greater thrills. The guy no longer has to lie to the girl pretend he likes her or take her out to dinner to get sex – he just has to show up.

What about body piercing? It has progressed from traditional earrings for females, to earrings for males to multiple piercings for both males and females in literally every part of the body – the tongue, nose, eyebrow, lip, cheek, navel, breasts, genitals – again, things you don't really want to know.
It's the same progression to extremes with tattooing. But why stop with "conventional" piercing and tattooing? Ritual scarification and 3D-art implants are big. So are genital beading, stretching and cutting, transdermal implants, scrotal implants, tooth art and facial sculpture.

How about tongue splitting? How about branding?
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." – Ephesians 6:12.
Well now, is it just my imagination, or is there something about today's piercing and tattooing of the body, and the free sex that permeates this culture, that literally evokes the spirit of Sodom and Gomorrah?

You might say. "They're just adorning the human body to make it more beautiful and unique. Let them have their fun. Who are they hurting?" Such excuses spring up in our minds quite easily, as most certainly they did also in the time of Sodom, Gomorrah and other perverse societies.

The fact is, what has risen "out of the pit" in today's world bears a striking resemblance to the ageless spirit of defiant. A spirit now inhabiting millions of people "freed" by trauma (drugs, illicit sex, bodily mutilation, etc.) from the pain of their own conscience – which is to say, freed from God and the divine law written deep down in every person's heart. Why? Same reason as always: so they can be their own gods and make up their own rules.

In past eras, if parents were very imperfect or even corrupt, their children still had a reasonable chance of "growing up straight," since the rest of society still more or less reflected Christian values. The youngster could bond to a teacher, minister, mentor or organization that could provide some healthy direction and stability.
If parents fail to properly guide and protect their children, the kids get swallowed whole by the monster we call culture.
Today's youth rebellion is not only against failing parents, but against the entire adult society – against the children of the 1960s cultural revolution who grew up to become their parents. Unfortunately, many of us never shook off the transforming effects of that national trauma, which birthed the "sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll" youth counterculture, the leftist hate-America movement, the women's liberation movement and overriding all, of course, the sexual revolution.

No wonder our children are rebelling. And today's insane Sodom-and-Gomorrah culture, which we have allowed and in many ways created, stands waiting in the wings to welcome them with open arms. What do you think about our out of control youth? Do you see any hope for them? Where did we go wrong?

"Grace & Mercy (Tuesday) Question: Where Do You See MegaChurches Going In The Next 10 Years?

Outreach magazine just released its annual report on the 100 largest and fastest-growing churches. No surprise at the top of the "biggie" list: Houston's Lakewood Church, led by Joel Osteen, sees a whopping 47,000 people come through its doors each weekend. And the fast-growing church in America? According to this year's report, it's Iglesia Cristiana Segadores de Vida, located in Hollywood, Fla.—which is indicative of our country's influx of Hispanic believers. Is this some kind of trend? From "mega" to "giga": There are more megachurches now than ever, and they continue to grow—so much that Outreach now categorizes congregations of more than 10,000 people as "gigachurches." Thirty-six of the top 100 fell in this category, while No. 100 on the list of largest churches still has an attendance of more than 6,000.
* Go forth and multiply: Going multi-site is becoming the norm among churches. In 1990, there were only 10 multi-site Protestant churches in the entire country; today 16 percent of all churches are currently considering expanding to an additional site. In addition, 25 percent of all megachurches today meet on multiple sites (that's five times what it was in 2000). Among multi-site churches, 60 percent plan on adding another site in the next year.
* Mega-mixture: With Hispanic and Asian populations on the rise in this country, so are the number—and size—of the churches predominantly made up of those segments of society. Most megachurches have a representation of both Hispanics and Asians within their congregation. Yet judging by the number of Hispanic churches on the fastest-growing list, it's clear that churches exclusively reaching these cultures are experiencing growth. What's your take on Megachurches and gigachurches? Where do you see Megachurches going in the next 10 years?

"Grace & Mercy (Tuesday) Why DO Young Adults Leave The Church?

70 percent of 18- to 30-year-olds who attended a church for at least a year during high school stopped attending church during the crucial decision-making years following high school. That's according to a study just released by a Christian Resources of more than 1,000 young adults. Researchers found two major contributing factors behind this common church departure:

1. life changes
2. a lack of personal relationships in the church

While 30 percent of those who left the church said they made a conscious decision to leave after high school, the majority surveyed attributed their disassociation to either work responsibilities, moving away from their home church or moving on a college campus.

The survey found that the majority of young adults who remained in church between age 18 and 30 felt attending church was a vital part of their lives, as well as a helpful factor in their decision-making.

Relationships are often the glue that keep people in church or serve as the attraction to begin attending again following a period of absenteeism Many people are deeply influenced by friends and loved ones.

Young adults desire the same thing as any other demographic group relationship. Establish that crucial foundation while they're in high school and you're likelier to keep them in church. To remain in church, a person must have experienced the value of the teaching and relationships at church and see the relevance for the next phase of life.
I know this to be true because my son who is 24 stop going to church when he was 16. I got tired of fussing on Sunday morning about get up get dress.
He would set with the other youth and sleep. One day I looked around my old church and most of the young adult were gone. Our young adult choir became smaller and smaller. What do you think? Why do our young adults leave the church for a period of time and what can we do to keep them from leaving?

"Grace & Mercy ( Tuesday ) Marion Jones Get Up!

"Prayerful" Monday : Joy To The World.

Joy to the world! the Lord is come:
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare him room,
And heaven and nature sing.

Joy to the earth! the Saviour reigns:
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains
Repeat the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make his blessings flow
Far as the curse is found.

He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of his righteousness,
And wonders of his love.

"Prayerful" Monday : Question?: Can The Church Embrace Hip-Hop?

Will Hip Hop culture grow or destroy the Black Church? It is the dominant force amongst youth and now, young adult. Hip Hop's influence has smitten the Black Church in many ways causing generational divide. Although Hip Hop culture has been approached from a variety of angles, its relationship to the Black Church has not nearly been explored enough. Our youth and young adults are rapidly leaving the church in search of something that looks and feels like Hip Hop and in many ways the Black Church remains in denial. What do you think ?

4th Sunday " Song" ~ Vanessa Williams: What Child Is This.

My definition is to have showed love and had touched someone along the way. I know every body will approach this question in a different way. So what is yours?
(1) your career?
(2) financial prosprity?
(3) happiness?
(4) moral life?
(5) living your dreams?

4th Sunday ( Giving Love ) Rev. Al Sharpton

I wrote this post to say what I think of Rev. Al Sharpton . I think Rev. Al knows what his purpose is in this life and he operates in it. I Know that a lot of our people don't like Rev. Al. But if I had to call any one for help it would be him. He has a track record of during something that is more than what some of the trash talkers have done. Rev Al you are on the front line you have taken a knife in the chest for justice.
Wherever the poor and helpless are abused by the powerful; wherever the weak and disenfranchised are ignored and deprived; wherever injustice rears it’s ugly head and oppression tightens it’s fascist grip; one man will be there to give support to the poor, strength to the weak and solace to the oppressed. One man with the courage and determination to fight the battle against the forces of evil. That is Rev. Al Sharpton. Wherever there's a cause Rev. Al Sharpton is there. Sharpton a once Democratic presidnetial candidate is drawn to the plight of the underdog. Rev. Al Sharpton here is some love from The Old Black Church and to say what a wonderful job you do for our community. And Rev. Al Sharpton you can speak for me.

4th Sunday "Random Post." False Teachers Please Sit Down.

Author and false teacher Paula White will appear on Larry King Live from Los Angeles on Monday, November 26th. Paula the false teacher will discuss her new book, You’re All That! She will also talk about the challenges women face in their lives today, and share some of her personal struggles. Will she tell them how she con them out of their moneys. I hope she tell them how to spot a false teacher when they see one. Especially if they cater to a certain group of people [ African America Women ] who will all most follow anything and anybody who say what they want to here.

You’re All That! shows readers how to see themselves through different eyes, don't we supposed to see through the eyes of Christ? I wonder who eyes will they be looking through? The book is a guide for those who wish to move beyond loss, and let go of their fears and past failings. By implementing the wisdom in You’re All That!, White believes it’s possible to take control of your life, and embrace a future rich in discovery and transformation.

White’s national book tour grew out of her desire to help people heal, give them hope, and guide them to self-discovery. Through real-life examples, personal stories, and moving insights, You’re All That! equips readers to conquer their pain, and develop a stronger sense of who they are through the very principles that White used to transform her own life. Paula White is a false Teacher and need to sit on it. What do you think do we need any more of this nonsense?

Grace & Mercy (Saturday) The Valley of Pain.

I have heard it said that as a Christian, you are either going into a valley, in the middle of one, or coming out of a valley. While I don't know that every bit of the Christain life can be characterized by just those three, I do know that those valleys serve to make us more like Christ. What is your valley? I Am in the valley of no money and my John is in the valley of Unemployment.

But as I've had 6 months in this valley to think about things. I believe the Spirit has revealed things about my own heart that ultimately result in conviction of sin. *Now I just want to clarify my position on conviction. I hear so many people say, "We shouldn't live in condemnation.." and to that I say a hearty "AMEN!!!" But I believe there is a distinct differentiation between conviction and condemnation. Condemnation brings with it a sense of despair and hopelessness that says, "I'll never change." But conviction carries with it a realization of sin and the power of the gospel to overcome that sin. Conviction ultimately brings hope! Hope in Christ who conquered death. If He could do that then certainly He can help me overcome my sin* (Stepping down off soapbox...)

What are the things hidden within the moist, deep, dark recesses of my heart? Oh, things like discontentment, failure to trust that God will provide, failure to look to my husband, the desire to nag my husband, worry, the desire to "help God out" in providing for us...the list, I'm sure, goes on. Wow! So many things tucked away in such a tiny space. But isn't that the kindness of God to have sent His Spirit to remind us of what we have learned and to convict us of sin?

So now that I recognize these things are there and confess them to God, my inclination is to behave as though, "Well, mark those off the list; mission accomplished God. Let's bring us out of this valley now, okay?" But that may not be God's plan for us. Perhaps there are still some trust issues; God alone knows those things. What if John is umemployed for a very long time? We certainly wouldn't be the only believers in this position. I hope in 2008 that this turn around for us. I Am embracing this as a time of learning and dependence upon the Lord.

"Grace & Mercy ( Saturday ) Question What is our greatest hindrance in worshipping God?

We could come up with a number of potential answers how about this one, our worship leader isn't very experienced, the services are too planned/spontaneous, the songs are too complex/simple, the choir , band, organ sound bad, there are too many new songs are old one's our church is too big or small. These statements refer to a meeting context, they reveal a profound misconception about the hindrances to true worship. Our greatest problem doesn't lie outside of us but within our own hearts. What do you think? Can you think of anything else that can hinder our worship with our Lord, if so leave me a comment.

Hallelujah (Friday ) Brooklin Tabernacle Choir: For every monutain

Hallelujah (Friday )

Come let us worship the Lord in the beauty of Holiness, come let us worship the Lord in the beauty of Holiness give Him the honor. Give Him the praise. Come let us worship the Lord, let's give Him the praise. God is Spirit, and His Worshipers must worship in Spirit and in truth.

"Friday" (Hallelujah ) Question? What Happen To Our Worship?

We are rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing! Is this what we are saying to our God on Sunday morning? We are building great churches and large congregations. But what about the image in the community around us. Do the community recognize God the Creator or God the big businessman? What do you think about worship within our churches today?

Thankful (Thursday) Question? Why Want We Please God With His Talent?

What happen to the musicians who use to put God and church above money? Now the Black Church is left with keyboard players who really don't know how to read music. Have they abandon the Black Church for mega $$$$. Music is an essential element of the Black Church which relied on a steady stream of musical and religious talent. What happen to using music to develop and grow people, spiritually? Right now it is all about the band and the spotlighting the best voice. So instead of looking for people who have a heart for ministry, you look for the best musicians. And for them, it's just another gig. What Do You Think?

Thankful (Thursday) Thanksgiving Psalm: 24

The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof,
the world and those who dwell therein,
for he has founded it upon the seas
and established it upon the rivers.

Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?
And who shall stand in his holy place?
He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not lift up his soul to what is false
and does not swear deceitfully.
He will receive blessing from the Lord
and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
Such is the generation of those who seek him,
who seek the face of the God of Jacob. Selah

Lift up your heads, O gates!
And be lifted up, O ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord, strong and mighty,
the Lord, mighty in battle!
Lift up your heads, O gates!
And lift them up, O ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
he is the King of glory! Selah

Bible Study (Wednesday ) Question?: Why Is It So Hard For Christian To Believe God?

Gospel singer Donnie McClurkin defended himself against attacks on his view that homosexuality is a choice at Sen. Barack Obama’s gospel concert Sunday.

More than 2,000 black evangelicals waved their hands and sang in support of the Grammy winner as he took the stage in Columbia, S.C. McClurkin said his past statements on homosexuality had been twisted and he was unfairly criticized, according to The New York Times.

The gospel superstar sang a hymn about standing up for one’s self and thrust his fist into the air. McClurkin gave a short pitch for Democratic presidential hopeful Obama as a candidate who stands for change.

“But the greatest change a person can have is not in politics,” he said. “There is only one King.”

Last Monday, McClurkin had said during an interview with The Associated Press: “I don’t believe that it is the intention of God…Sexuality, everything is a matter of choice.”

The award winning artist said he was gay for nearly 20 years after being sexually molested by an uncle, but was “cured” through prayers.

Gay activists had strongly criticized McClurkin for his statement and demanded Obama to cancel his appearance.

The Illinois senator did not remove McClurkin, but instead added an openly gay South Carolina pastor to the same concert. The Illinois senator also told the gay community about his strong disagreement with McClurkin and his commitment to gay rights.

As the concert was about to end, McClurkin – who was one of the final acts – became more bold about the controversy and cried out, “Don’t call me a bigot or anti-gay when I have suffered the same feelings,” as reported by CNN.

“Don't call me a homophobe, when I love everybody … Don't tell me that I stand up and I say vile words against the gay community because I don't. I don't speak against the homosexual. I tell you that God delivered me from homosexuality."

The crowd sang and clapped in full support of McClurkin’s word, according to the New York Times. What do you think? If God can do anything but, fail why is it so hard for us to accept it when someone with a questionable life style says that He change them we have a hard time believing it?

Bible Study (Wednesday ) Random Post: Dr. Jan Adams

Dr. Jan Adams, the plastic surgeon who operated on Kanye West's mother the day before she died abruptly, walked off CNN's Larry King Live last night. Adams said he initially agreed to speak with King to clear up media reports about him, but he wanted to respect the wishes of West's family, who asked him not to appear on the show. I think he made a wise decision to respect the family wishes. What do you think about Dr. Adams walking off the set?

Bible Study (Wednesday ) Thanksgiving Psalm 111

Praise the Lord!
I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart,
in the company of the upright, in the congregation.
Great are the works of the Lord,
studied by all who delight in them.

Full of splendor and majesty is his work,
and his righteousness endures forever.
He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered;
the Lord is gracious and merciful.
He provides food for those who fear him;
he remembers his covenant forever.

He has shown his people the power of his works,
in giving them the inheritance of the nations.
The works of his hands are faithful and just;
all his precepts are trustworthy;
they are established forever and ever,
to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness.

He sent redemption to his people;
he has commanded his covenant forever.
Holy and awesome is his name!
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
all those who practice it have a good understanding.
His praise endures forever!

Not to know at large of things remote
From use, obscure and subtle, but to know
That which before us lies in daily life,
Is the prime wisdom.

Praise & Worship ( Tuesday ) Random Post: Birth Order

Dear Publisher,

My four sons, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, have each written books about a man named Jesus of Nazareth whose life was just one miracle after another. You won't be able to put these books down. The closing chapter of each one includes a beyond-and-back scene. Consider the possibilities! You could option any of their books to the television networks who could arrange for viewers to call in to vote on whether or not Jesus came back from the dead.

But since none of my boys are talk-show hosts nor are they related to Oprah I'm taking a year off to help them with public relations for their books. I'm afraid the four books may all look alike to you, so I, as the boys' mother, will explain the differences among the boys and their books.

MATTHEW, first-born. If there was ever a Jewish mother's boy, Matthew is it. He can quote the Torah and the prophets jot and tittle, as you'll see in this manuscript. His book wouldn't sell to the TBN crowd, but it will sell to our people because he's slanted the whole thing to us chosen ones.

His overachieving, first-born tendencies show -- his manuscript is the longest. He was also a fringe member of Jesus' clique, so he details one of Jesus' hillside seminar lectures for three, count em three, chapters!

Judging from Matthew's past, he'll want big upfront money. It's hard for me to admit, but he collects taxes for a living. I thought hanging around with seedy radicals would turn him around, but it hasn't. People claim he's honest now and they flock to him for a good deal on Schedule A contributions.

Perhaps Jerry Seinfeld would endorse this book. Our dog trainer trains his fifth cousin's dog.

MARK, second born. Second borns thrive on being different, so Mark always hung out with the street crowd while Matthew was off in synagogue school. Mark's book is short (skips that genealogical stuff, sorry, no Mormon market here), cuts to the chase, and appeals to roaming, pagan types. You could probably sell his action packed version to MTV's new educational literature slot -- tell 'em Mark uses Hemingway's terse style.

But Mark is also quite a journalist, gathering facts and figures from an old fisherman-preacher, Peter, reputed to be one of Jesus' best buds. He uses Peter's eyewitness advantage well -- he describes not just grass, but the GREEN grass where thousands munched out on fish sandwiches prepared by Jesus' own hands. Mark can be objective too. When he tells anecdotes, he doesn't toot Peter's horn. (Matthew told me privately that this Peter tried to walk on water -- who does he think he is?) Mark tells in detail how Peter jumped ship during Jesus' criminal trial.

You're a publisher, you've got connections -- how about getting Arnold Schwarzenegger to endorse Mark's book?

LUKE Third borns are supposed to be dreamers, but my Luke never built any house among sandcastles. As a medical doctor, he polishes a supposed virgin-birth angle with details galore so that you're surprised when he doesn't comment on the DNA in every person listed in the genealogy. You could easily sell this chapter to the networks for a medical-breakthrough-of-the- month docudrama.

Luke's cultured Greek point of view (his monkish pal Paul convined him there's no such thing as a Jew or a Greek!) will make it easy for you to sell his version to the Arts and Entertainment channel. With his smooth literary style, Luke retells Jesus' most moving narratives (PBS's Masterpiece Theatre, for sure). Luke is also meticulous about historical facts (maybe Ken Burns would do a special?) and he's got a sequel in the works, which he calls, "Acts." How's that for classic simplicity?

Luke's book is the least churchy. He presents Jesus as an everyday man, putting on his tunic one armhole at a time. Maybe it could sell to the Book of the Month club or it could be excerpted in Atlantic Monthly. This is a book Garrison Keillor would endorse.

JOHN is the baby of the family. His impractical view of life shows in the way he skips the big moments: birth, infancy, childhood and baptism. Instead, he sticks with typical Globe stories about Jesus: performing magic tricks at weddings, meeting privately with a questionable Samaritan woman, bringing a friend back from the dead?!

But as a member of Jesus' clique, John offers the most personal angle. John was a typically spoiled, thunderous, last born child, but after sitting in smelly fishing boats with Jesus for a few years he's become today's sensitive man. (We can tousle his hair for a brooding PR picture.)

To be honest though, the market for John's book is slim. He used too many metaphors -- he quotes Jesus saying he's a door, a gate, a shepherd (he's really a carpenter!). John has targeted deep thinkers, but the Ph.D. crowd won't swallow it because he got hung up with Jesus being, get ready -- the Son of God. That's quite a marketing problem.

Perhaps you could package John's book as a collection of religious short stories and gear it to those literal-minded conservative churchgoers -- but do any of them know what a metaphor is? Poor John! It's as if he wrote it just for himself so he could curl up in a window seat and read about his best friend named Jesus. Nobody else will want to do that.

John, Paul, George, and Ringo they're not, but my four boys have written books that could re-introduce love and long hair. If one of these books became a bestseller, you could package all four books together in one volume. But, maybe not. Who would want to read the same story four times?

As an aside, publishing all four would solve one of my worries. I'm concerned that only three of the boys will get their books published and one will be left out. That's a terrible fate to suffer. Spare me, their mother, that shame.

Praise & Worship ( Tuesday ) Psalms For Thanksgiving: Psalm 67

May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make his face to shine upon us, Selah
that your way may be known on earth,
your saving power among all nations.
Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you!

Let the nations be glad and sing for joy,
for you judge the peoples with equity
and guide the nations upon earth. Selah
Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you!

The earth has yielded its increase;
God, our God, shall bless us.
God shall bless us;
let all the ends of the earth fear him!

Praise & Worship ( Tuesday ) Inspirational Quote:~ Marianne Williamson

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we're liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Prayerful Monday Psalms Of Thanksgiving: Psalm 34

I will bless the Lord at all times;

his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the humble hear and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together!

I sought the Lord, and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant,
and their faces shall never be ashamed.
This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him
and saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encamps
around those who fear him, and delivers them.

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
Oh, fear the Lord, you his saints,
for those who fear him have no lack!
The young lions suffer want and hunger;
but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

Come, O children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
What man is there who desires life
and loves many days, that he may see good?
Keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from speaking deceit.
Turn away from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.

The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous
and his ears toward their cry.
The face of the Lord is against those who do evil,
to cut off the memory of them from the earth.
When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears
and delivers them out of all their troubles.
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
and saves the crushed in spirit.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
but the Lord delivers him out of them all.
He keeps all his bones;
not one of them is broken.
Affliction will slay the wicked,
and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.
The Lord redeems the life of his servants;
none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned.

3rd Sunday (Men's Day) Song ~ Men Of Standard: The Blood.

3rd Sunday (Men's Day) Question? How Did We Fail So Many?

Young black men have become big business.The prison housing 20% of all the people in the world behind bars, the largest prison population on the planet. In a frenzy of criminal justice, we have turned our backs on the founding principles of this nation to produce state and federal prisons at an alarming rate—in the 1990s, opening 1 every 15 days in depressed rural towns and communities. Private correctional companies are entering the industry, appearing on the NY stock exchange, with an eye on the bottom line. Under this prison-industrial complex, we are locking up 1 in 3 young black men in this nation, moving them far from home, and stripping them of the right to vote, the possibility of holding decent jobs and the dignity of supporting themselves and their families. US prisons are holding the strangest of reunions: grandfathers, fathers and sons behind bars. There is no paying of their debt to society, no clean slate. The Black Church should take a more active role, in keeping our young men out of the system. If we can run our churches like they are a business why can't we come up with a solution for this problem? The Black Church is partially to blame for this too. The Church have forgotten the next generation what are these young men to do? No body cares for them. The Black Church can help inspire change by presenting the big picture of the prison system that values the bottom line more than it does solutions at whatever cost. The Black Church can start to demand a prison system that delivers justice for all. What is your take on the Black church and young men in the system what should we be doing about it?

3rd Sunday (Men's Day) A Prayer For Black Men's In Prison.

Father Your word says that we should minister unto those who are in prison. Therefore I come before Your throne of grace lifiting up The Blackman in the name of Jesus Christ and petitioning You on their behalf.

Father as the prodigal son came to himself in the hog's pen and realized that he needed his father, I pray that our Blackmen's would come to them self while they are in prison and come to know that they need You in their life.

May You send faithful laborers to minister Your Word unto them. I pray that You would soften and 9pen their hearts to receive the seed of Your Word and Your Spirit. May You open their heart to receive You intimately as Savior and Lord. And give them the mind and the strength to live for you, and allow You to live and grow in and through them, even while he is there.
As Jonah's heart and life was changed from rebellion to receptivity and obedience to Your Word (because of the 3 days and nights he spent in the belly of a fish/whale) I pray that their Jonah experience for them will likewise change their hearts to serve and 0bey You. And give them a heart a mind and a determination to live for You like never before.

I pray also that You would comfort the hearts of their family while they are incarcerated. Father, as Jacob's love did not dwindle or diminish for Rachel though he waited 14 years for her may You likewise comfort and keep the hearts of their family wife and children kindled in excitement and high anticipation longing and awaiting their return.

3rd Sunday (Men's Day) Responsive Readings.

How good and how pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head for there the Lord bestows His blessing, even life forevermore. We are one in the Spirit; we are one in the Lord. From the depths of shame and degradation, we have been raised to bask in the light of divine love. We wear the righteousness of Christ Jesus for all the world too see. We are black men redeemed, renewed and regenerated. Praise God for redemption full and free. We call to remembrance the spirit and intellect of our ancient African ancestors. Their civilizations reveal the rich endowments of their culture. Their blood courses through our veins and reminds us that we are creative capable and strong. We stand on the shoulders of our forefathers. They survived the passage on crowded slave ships the humiliation of slavery the tearing away of wives and children the ravages of racism unemployment and underemployment. We honor the memory of both named and unnamed black men who gave their lives in the fight for freedom and peace. Thank You God that our lives are enriched because of their sacrifices. We recognize the contributions of extraordinary African American men such as Frederick Douglas and Ralph Bunch Jesse Owens Jackie Robinson Arthur Ashe George Pullman the Tuskegee Airmen Richard Wright Alex Haley Adam Clayton Powell and Richard Allen. Many more black male achievers such as these have inspired and motivated us. With perseverance and much determination black men have overcome many economic political and psychological obstacles. Lord lift us out of complacency. Help us protect love and support our families. O God remove all hatred animosity and anger from our souls, Keep us from the snare of the enemy. Envelop us in your undying love. Through Jesus Christ the way to abundant love has been paved for us. God our Protector we pray for solidarity among black men united courageous and responsible strong in the power of Your Spirit. Thanks be to You.

Grace & Mercy (Saturday ) Song ~ Canton Jones Stay Save

"Grace & Mercy" (Saturday ) Is G Craig Lewis Right About Holy Hip Hop?

Lewis’ claim that Hip hop itself is evil at it’s roots and it’s origins. Why are we the Black Church attacking our own babies with this nonsense? The world have no love for them and neither do the church. Come on! That is the one place they should be able to go to and be showen love . But Hip Hop the culture or the music is no different than anything else in existence on the earth. Kind of like the old saying “guns don’t kill people…people do!” The devil perverts things, that is why he is referred to as wicked…wicked simply means twisted. Satan can’t create anything, he merely perverts what God has designed and influences man to abuse them, rather than Use them for what God intended. Same difference Hip Hop isn’t evil…but some people use it for evil devices and to promote things that are evil. Remember Joseph, in the old testament confronting his brothers for selling him into slavery. Joseph informs them “ye meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive” Gen 50:20.

Without a doubt, Satan’s plan would be for music period to be used in the destruction of man, and the Hip Hop culture lends itself to easy one stop shopping for all types of sinful vices. Which is more reason to have a Voice of reason and a Voice of the Truth out there because this is a war on all fronts…I grew up listening to all of the traditional gospel greats, and many of the songs that we sang in Church weren’t all that positive…songs of poor little me, songs based on ole time religion and songs that didn’t quite always line up with the Bible. But they did sound good…….

Lewis is guilty of falling into the same trap that many minister fall into. Instead of doing research to see if it is true. These ministers use a reverse process that comes up with the conclusion first and then only seeks information that supports their conclusion while ignoring any information that would prove them wrong. Then when all else fails they pull the God card because surely no one would contest the will of God………WHAT! does God speak to his people, yes, but He never contradicts His written Word, if He did then that would make His Word null & void. Remember The Incident in Waco, Texas that guy said he heard from God. Or what about Jim Jones, and I could go on and on. If it were not for Hip Hop Lewis would not even have a platform for his attack. It is wrong to attack the way Lewis is doing, and we keep embracing him.

we need to tell our young people of the danger of not being selective about what they listen to. I personally don't listen to secular music . There is a direct connection between what you see and what you hear and what you experience in life. But that is in eveything. That includes conversations I might have, movies and television shows I watch, the food that I eat and so on….not just music. God is able to use whatever He wants, whenever He wants to acomplish His will, and His will is that all men be saved. Mr. Lewis made a comment that your subconscience records everything! You may try to block out the lyrics, but you cannot stop them from being recorded into your mind. Your mind can even record backwards messages.

Your subconscience records everything! You may try to block out the lyrics, but you cannot stop them from being recorded into your mind. Your mind can even record backwards messages. It has been scientifically proven that your mind is so clever that, even when you aren’t trying to, you can receive the information that is stated in the lyrics of music. Even if it is recorded backwards. And it affects you! When you listen to sex, sex, sex, or murder, murder, murder, those are things that will come out of you in the heat of the moment. They are programmed in your mind without your consent.

What better way to get into the subconscious of our youth than through Holy Hip Hop. So if the person is listening to life life life then that is what will eventually begin to come out of them. If listening to evil lyrics can get into the subconscious and influence the behavior of the listener, then likewise a person can get the Word of God implanted not only into their subconscious but their Spirit as well. Since when did the devil trump God. The last time I checked the Score God was in control. I find it ludicris to think that the devil has more power than God, that his music is powerful enough to actually make people do what he wants them to do…if that’s the case why doesn’t traditional Gospel/Church music make people do what is right, make them attend church regularly and make them stop all of the wrong things they do…

The Church either sitting on the sidelines or wasting valuable time nitpicking the members of the body who don’t do it like they would do it. Taking pot shots at the faithful few who dare to go where the suited saints won’t. You can not reason with unreasonable people. As a body we are responsible for loving, praying for and supporting each other. So to G Craig Lewis and others that think Holy Hip Hop is evil,Not!

What does a church do these days when its co-pastors, who are married, split up, and the Senate begins an investigation into whether parishioners are funding the pastors’ lavish lifestyle? Host a comedy night, of course.

Grace & Mercy (Thursday ) Prayer for Our Churches.

Father I pray that the church get it's vision back. And as You birth new vision in our pastors. I pray that every member catch the vision, run with the vision and support the vision. And as a result every vision that is birth comes to pass and no devil demon or demonic spirit is able to suppress, delay or hinder it in any way. I pray that every need in the church is met. I pray that You save the lost and return the backsliders. And, by the power of God and the stripes of Jesus Christ may the sick receive healing and may those who are bound be set free and loose from every bondage stronghold and clutch of Satan.

"Bible Study"( Wednesday ) Thanksgiving Prayer

Give us thankful hearts, O God, in this the season of Thanksgiving. May we be thankful for health and strength, for sun and rain and peace. Let us seize the day and opportunity to strive for that greatness of spirit that measures life not by its disappointments but by its possibilities and let us ever remember that true gratitude and appreciation shows itself neither in independence nor satisfaction but passes the gift joyfully on in large and better form. Such gratitude grant us, O Lord. Amen
