Reps Approve 14 years Imprisonment For Same-sex Marriage



The house of representatives have approved the bill to prohibit same-sex solemnization or civil union in any place of worship, either in church, mosque or any place in Nigeria.

The bill which was initiated by the Senate in 2011 provides that persons that enter into same sex gender marriage or civil union contract commit an offense and will each face a 14-year imprisonment sentence.

It also set out a 10-year imprisonment for any person who directly or indirectly makes public show of same sex amorous relationships.
