Kidnapped NTA Akure Female Journalist Set Free.

Remember Olubunmi Oke, the female journalist with NTA Akure who was kidnapped on Thursday 21 as she returned home from work, has been released. Bunmi regained her freedom today, Sunday March 24th.

“I confirm that she has been released. I spoke with her early this morning shortly after she was set free by her abductors. She was set free and abandoned in a bush near Ondo town, about 30 kilometres (19 miles) from Akure from where she boarded a lorry home. She is hale and hearty and happy to be back home." Rotimi Obamuwagun, vice president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, told AFP.

Her abductors had asked for N8million but is is unclear if any ransom was paid before her release

It’s no longer news that Kidnappers on Thursday abducted Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) journalist, Mrs Olabunmi Lawal Oke in Akure, Ondo state but the news now is that four gunmen are demanding a whooping sum N8m as ransom payment.

NTA General Manager, Mrs Bennie Mordi, confirmed the demands and also said the abduction occurred around 8.30pm Thursday, adding that Oke was abducted in front of Jojain Hotel, Oba-Ile, while returning from work.

Olubunmi was going home with her baby and the housemaid. She was kidnapped alone.

Bennie Mordi said a witness narrated that a taxi cab trailed the victim’s vehicle and drove across it, forcing it to stop before taking her away.

Ex actress Regina Askia settling down to new life as nurse in US

Former beauty queen and actress, Regina Askia-Williams is settling down to her new life and career as a registered nurse in the U.S.

The mother of three and one time model, who relocated to the United States in the early 2000′s, recounts her first experience with a dying patient.

‘My first code experience was on a hospice patient [who] unfortunately we lost. Wilding out inside but have to be professional. Family weeping…’ she wrote on her Facebook page.

‘…OMG I should have taken that course on death and dying. How do I come to terms with losing a patient…,’ she asked rhetorically.

Askia-Williams, 45, lives in New Yorkand works with a hospital in the city. She is married to American Rudolph Williams and her eldest daughter, Stephanie Hornecker, is an aspiring model.

The award winning actress and model made her foray into the Nigerian film industry with her critically acclaimed role as Tokunbo Johnson, a gold digger, in the 1993 NTA network produced Mega Fortunes.

She then went on to star in a number of home videos, an early incarnation of what is now known as Nollywood, before quitting the scene.

The new commercial which also stars the Sole Administrator of Performing Musicians and Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN) in Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Jeremy Ekong will be aired on NTA network.
