WATCH: The Trailer For "The Party" Movie

This is the slow season, but the first film trailer for 2013 belongs to the new movie "The Party" a mystery movie about business and the abduction of wealth Egyptian people for ransom. The lead are as follows Ahmed Eizz, Ruby and Mohamed Raggab. All worthy names and safe box office darlings.

Ahmed Eizz is the golden boy, Ruby the singer turned actress and has taken part of a number of celebrated films. I imagine Ahmed Raggab is the comic relief  though he has done some action films in the past. The movie is about the high rollers, women and wealth. There will be violence.

The trailer does not tell much  it really adds to the mystery. I like the real looking news clips about chaos and absense of law and order in today's Egypt. The movie blends real stories with fictitious ones. I am sensing it's about the abduction of a wealthy man's wife who is also caught in a love triangle.

Egyptian Suspense Flicks! Trailer Midnight Party Movie - تريلر فيلم حفلة منتصف الليل

Suspense or thrill movies are often a fun escape, I am one of those countless people who like to set on the edge of their seat waiting to find out how a movie ends. If the director did a good job, we will be in for a surprise and twisted end. Egypt has not really tried to make any good movies in this genre.

They have tried few times, and few movies were worthy of being celebrated. The script is always key, but also the acting, the music and the details are important. I am seeing a movie that might be pulling a stunning story....Midnight Party.

The timing is hardly ideal, the film will screen this holiday season around Egypt. Such films cannot really compete with silly comedies  so they settle to opt out of competition. The film has been ready for more than a year, but the release has been pushed back due to the turn of events in Egypt.

A movie as the trailer and the name suggest about a midnight party, some twists, action and drama. There seems to be a solid cast with many A and B list names helping advance the story without making it about themselves. I look forward to seeing more of this film, I know Egypt and Arab countries are hungry for such good stories.

Video: Egypt Makes Confusing Movies Too إعلان فيلم بارتيتا

Barteta Movie is a new movie releasing in Egypt next week, a suspense film about a lady married to one guy or two, we do not know as the trailer confuses the viewer, this may or may not work. Egyptian investors have not had much luck investing in the suspense genera, they do not make as much money as say stupid dance and lame comedy ones.

As for the actors  I think they are capable of pulling a good movie--they are really acting not just behaving on camera. Madeline Tabar is back on the acting saddle for one more picture surorunded by a solid cast. I feel though the script writers might have adapted a foreign film, making it into Arabic, but I have to see the movie to know that for sure.

Hisham Abbas And Computer CG In Helm Aziz

Arab filmmakers are still trying to figure out a way to make good CG work and incorporate it in films. Egyptian romance comedy flick Helm Aziz might go down as the first film to include crisp comuter generated graphics. The graphics are much better than we have scene in previous films and other music videos. They seem more elaborate.

This is a big budget film with Egyptian heartthrob Ahmed Aziz and Sharif Muneer the guy who does so well in complex characters. To promote the film, they have hired Hisham Abbas, a fixture of Arabic pop who seems to be MIA for the past 7 years or so.

This is not a great song, it's just fun to hear Hisham Abbas once again. His voice radiates happiness and a throwback.

"Ghesh El Zawgeya غش الزوجية" This is How You Make A Funnier Egyptian Movie

She is the captain of the national soccer team and he is a player and a softie. They meet and get hitched. Then the jokes start piling up as they try to survive their wedding and the life after. The movie trailer promises lots of laughter as I am smelling some great writing.

What gives a way good writing and a funny movies is a reduced amount of naked people and sexually infested lines. It's really easy to make dirty jokes, but to make a funny movie without it and have people laugh is really comedy. The star lineup includes funny man Ramiz Jala, Edward and the surprise of comedy Amy Ghanim. Raja'a Al Jidawy and others play supporting roles.

I like to see a tough girl for change where she also happens to have some funny lines as opposed to being a punching bag. I did enjoy the trailer and think you are in for a treat. Notice the scene in the cinema where Amy picks a fight with some chunky dude over romantic movies--she has the funniest line.

تريلر فيلم حلم عزيز - احمد عز | Trailer Helm Aziz Movie - Ahmed Ezz

Egyptian Cinema is taking a giant step as they venture into the world of Fantasia cinema making. Fantasy is a difficult genera to make, it's costly and it requires top talents to animators and graphic crews to make the work look good. Thus, Egyptian filmmakers have kept away from this genera.

But this year, we are destined to see the birth of what I call the first decent attempt on fantasy in Arabic and Egyptian cinema. The movie is with Ahmed Ezz, titled Helm Aziz. Aziz's dream or a dear dream. A movie about a playboy who goes to sleep and runs into his dead father who messes with hi and teaches him a lesson from beyond the grave.

This is one movie, I think that I would like to see, maybe there are many over the top party scenes with some suggestive phrases as I see from the preview, but over all this seems like the movie not to miss. I am impressed by the colors and the graphics where you get the idea it's heaven or hell.

Here's the preview with HD quality, so enjoy

Egyptian Family Friendly Porn Movies

There's one popular production house that makes sleazy movies in Egypt, Al Sabky Film. The owner of the company knows one thing, his movies will make money if they play up five things:

  1. Naked or almost naked women dancing and revealing a lot of their bodies.
  2. Dirty and sex filled dialogue.
  3. A cute little girl that talks like old women do--this one I have the most hatred for.
  4. A local singer who dances like  one of those Las Vegas dancers can be hooker. And yes he has a heart of gold
  5. A family who is trying to keep it together.
Three times, a year the company released a movie like that. Critics hate it and talk so much about it giving it media coverage. Then there are only dudes who go to movies in droves to see it. So you go to the theater and it's all dudes. I really hate those movies too, but the best approach is to ignore them and they tend to hate it when you do that.

Arabic Cinema 2012's Most Serious Movies

Ahmed Eiz is a celebrated Egyptian actor who is known for his box office movies and his action filled films. But to leave all that behind for a small movie is nothing new for Hollywood stars, but in Arabia those acts are hard to come by.

Hilm Aziz, or the dream of Aziz might as well be the biggest movie and the most serious movie the 2012 cinema will see. We do not have a trailer, just a teaser and it seems Ahmed has gone serious this time, no more old sex filled jokes anymore. Will this be a rip of an American movie? They have already ripped Ground Hog day two years ago in Alif Mabrook with Ahmed Hilmi.

Another Egyptian favorite will co-star in the movie Mai Kassab, the cute-ish Egyptain actress and pop singer

Cima Ali Baba, First Arabic Double Feature

The double feature consists of two feature-length segments, this was a trend back in the early days of cinema, they give you two movies for the price of one, and yes there's an intermission in between. It was brought back by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino. in the Grindhouse Death proof film combo.

This time Egyptian funny man Ahmed Mekky is bringing it to Arabia. with one movie that has two acts of two unrelated movies. The first is about space and star wars, the second is about a rooster who rules over an animal farm. So far the trailers look really funny, but that doesn't mean the movie will be great--usually Ahmed Mekky delivers the good stuff. the space saga is where a common man with a fast mouth and a low IQ has been abducted to experiment on him, so far it has generated the most buzz.

I am impressed by the makeup, the special affects and the customs, this is some tough work. We will find out soon in time for the Eid if this movie will be worth it.

Hamada Helal Amn Dawlat, The Arabic Pacifier

Movies with kids or made for kids make a lot more money than other movies, becasue the entire family goes in and buys thickets to the show. To make an original movie fro kids is sort of hard..they always remake older stories.

Hamada Helal's last role was a kickass boxer in his movie released in 2008. This holiday season he is making a comeback with a new movie that combines humor and action in one plot. Yes, this would be similar to the Vin Diesel Flick The Pacifier where tough guy is commissioned with protecting the little ones.

Even the poster is suggesting the link...will this be a funny movie? I think it will be Hamada is a good natured actor with an incredible smile. On the plus sides, the kids really like seeing him in movies too.

There seems to be a focus on kids, but there's also few sexual innuendos in here and there. And since Hamada is a singer to begin with, there has to be music and live entertainment by the lead guy. all other females have to play a supporting role where he gets all the best lines.

Watch Ahmed Mekky Cima Ali Baba 2011 Movie

The funniest Arab actor of this moment is Egyptain actor Ahmed Mekky who also happens to be a rapper. This Eid he is back with a new movies, this time his movies goes up in the sky. It's a space odyssey with jokes. This is like one of those dozens of movies they have made in the States lampooning star wars.

This time the jokes are in Arabic and in a very local sense, custom written for Egypt. I must say the affects don't look cheat at all, the crew seems to taken their job seriously. why not when Ahmed Mekky is the largest box office star. He has the fans waiting for his latest project and for the past three months we have been hearing about this movie.

I hope this is really funny, and worth the wait. What I also hope of Ahmed to take in some feedback from his crew. You cannot pick winners all the time unless you listen to your inner voice and compare that with what others say.

"Kabreet": Egypt's Biggest War Movie To Date

War movies are awesome, we rarely get to see a war movie as told by Arabs dude to one small budgets, two lack of talents and three censorship. There's a movie that will be about soon and it seems to be going to change all that. While we have no release date, this movie is already creating buzz in the online communities.

Mohammad Ramadan, Egypt's Dark Horse

Mohammad Ramadan is a young actor who is making waved in his country Egypt, he is the go to guy for complex characters those tailored for independent movies. He started in two big ones since he got into the business. His latest is Al Khrouj Min Al Qahera "Cairo Exit" and "Ehky ya Scheherazade" where he won in the best actor category.

He has won every award there is to win, his acting is pretty much following a school of his own, but others couldn't help but compare him to the acting legends of Egyptian cinema Ahmad Zaky. Mohammad Ramadan does not come from a light skin privileged family living in lower Egypt. Instead he comes from upper Egypt and his dark complexions make him one of the few to leading men that come from his background.

This Ramadan seas Ramadan has two TV Dramas and he is making his way into leading more movies and getting better roles. He refuses to take sidekick roles where there is a leading man or women and he has little to say in those roles. "Doar Shobra" and "E7na El Talabah" are among the mos popular shows this season. Mohammad has only one regret in his career, if the clock will go back, he would take his role in one of his movies becasue of the racy scenes he was in--I am sure he is not the first of the last actor to make that wish.

You will see Ramadan in two feature films with some great storyline. ر فيلم "ساعة ونصف" فيلم "ستر وغطا" و While he filming one and getting ready to film the other, you know that the likes of Ramadan will be around for some time. His handsome looks and his picture perfect physique don't hurt either.

Arab Nadine Labaki Makes Films For Non Arabs

There's no shame in doing that. that's the story of talented Lebanese director Nadine Labaki. The famed Lebanese music video directors for the likes of Nancy Ajram dipped her toes into directing features films and acting with here well received movie Caramel.

now comes the second act. The movie might as well have been set in Italy or anyplace with foul mouthed old ladies with a lot of funny things to say. There's a lot of women in this movie, young studs, religion and just bizarre characters that makeup the country we love Lebanon.

We have yet to see the whole movie, but it will be a story told through the eyes of women that's for sure. Stories that non Arabs obsess about like sex in an conservative societies. The title in Arabic is, "Where to Now?" It might be a social commentary on the political climate in Lebanon.

Essam Karika, "Son of a Gun" Talk Show

Hip Egyptian composer turned singer turned actor turned talk show host Essam Karika is back this Ramadan with a really short talk show titled "El Wad El 'Afreet", "Son Of a Gun" where he hosts Arab celebrities and interview them in a humor filled segments.

Essam has great access becasue of his friendship with a large number of A list Arab singers who love Essam's music work. Names like Amr Diab, Hany Shaker, Raghib Alama, Mohammad Mounir, Sherine, Nawal Al Zaoghby as well as others will take part of this funky looking show. Karika is a big name in Egypt cinema too, so he will have no probelm getting actors to appear in his show.

Will this be a show, I race to watch, no not really, but If I open the TV and it's playing, I would tune in. In other news, Essam will be going back to writing music and he will be collaborating with a great number of Arab singers.

Tralier Almusafer Is Here, Will It Bomb?

When you have your lead actor attack the movie director, and the co stars, you know this cannot be a good business decision. The Traveler "Almusafer" is the movie that was supposed to be independent and serious Egyptian cinema back on the map. We were told this will be good, but then something happened and Omar Sheriff was unhappy about the whole movie.

Omar Sheriff said the dictator of the picture is immature and has no idea what he is doing with the editing room. Then he turned around and called Khaled Al Nabouy, the other stat in the movie a light actor who wants to copy everything about me. There is that Lebanese beauty Cyrine Abedel Nour who is filling in for the babe role. To her credit thought, she has done a significant a number of movies and tv roles. She has also acting with Khaled in a Lebanese movie before.

Well this could be good, but from the looks of the trailer, I am left with more questions than answers. This is a Port Said tale of being part of a place. There is a number of questionable scenes cock fighting, forced sex scenes. I get the feeling this is a movie made for awards and film festivals. The cinematography says as much. That's not bad, it just does not make money that often.

Lower Your IQ with this Egypitian Movie

Ghada Abel Razik is the most demanded and most paid female actress on TV but that does nto say a word about the quality of the work she is involved in. Here is a clip from her latest sleaze infested movie Bon Siwaree "كليب حطه يا بطة . اداء غادة عبد الرازق و نهلة زكى و مى كساب .. من فيلم بونسوارية" I like female lead movies and I think we should have more of them, but not the ones that play to the stereotype and make it harder to produce such movies in the future.

This is a traditional silky song that was taken and butchered in this music video where bad langauge, weak pronunciation, gibberish and some English get rolled in one serving of silly going on sleazy entertainment. Yes, three girls who are short on talent go through the trouble og running the business of their deceased father.

I may end up watching this movie if I felt the need to lower my IQ and insult my senses, but I feel I have seen this story before only a million time. And with all the skin and sleaze we saw in the movie, the producer says, (I quote) "I made this movie for a religious reason" that's what the producer said when he was called out on this movie.

With Demagh Ara'eish Arabia Is doomed

I am disappointed in the grownups and marketing exes and the shape of entertainment.
When one talks about drugs, alcohol, sex and other mature subjects on film, the rating of the film became more restrict. In other words, there are age proper material in film and music. Certain movies cannot be viewed by minors under the age of 13 and sometimes 18. So there is a lot of freedom to explore any subject one wishes.....as long as they announce that this will be a mature subject and this way the America and Europe makes things work. Of course in prime time TV before 10 PM when kids are awake, certain words, subjects cannot be aired until later at night.

But not in Arabia, here is a music video that airs in prime time on channel popular with minors, you can see drugs, sex and joints while listening to a song about drinking beer 'Stella', smoking hash, and an expose of what types of drugs one should use. This is drug and alcohol indoctrination to the young soul. All this is part of an effort to market a movie about a sleazy bachelor with a good heart.

You know what's more dangerous? the fact there are using an adorable little girl in the movie as prop to help attract the young ones to watch this movie. If this is a movie for grown ups as it seems from the song and clips, why are they pushing this little girl in marketing? Is there nothing wrong with that? I am not comfortable with this movie, the plot and the langauge. Do not get me wrong, I have seen worse movies and movies that deals with more mature subjects....I just do not like sleazy material to be thrown at the little ones in this fashion. Yes, I still hate censors, because they do more damage than good, good taste is in order...so that we are not making Arabic TV programming into the Wild West.

Serious Egyptian Films Sections in Aisle 6

Egyptian cinema has not made a good movies in ages. Instead they opt out to make either silly blockbuster action movies or even sillier comedies. There are few exceptions of course, "Birds of the Nile", "Rasyel Albahir" of this year are promising movies. It's true while neither of those movies were smashing success, they have won over critics in about every film festival.

But this year is not over yet and the best of Egyptian cinema seems to be out. The provocative new movie "Lust" a tale of poverty, morals, and the complex web of human relationships. From the looks of the trailer this is on its way to be one of Egypt's most honest movies in decades.

Ruby or Roubi the popular and dance famous pop singer co-stars in this movie with a strong cast of Egyptian actors and actresses who want to show off their acting chops. I also like Susan Bader who is never shy to take on a challenging role as she seems to have transformed herself to play this darker character.

This is a movie that I look forward to watching as Egypt can never win an award in film making if they continue to obsesses about making movies that won't tarnish the image of Egypt and public perception. In essence, Egyptian film makers need to be a bite more honest in their portrayal of their beloved country. A dose of realism is what Lust seems to be going for.
