Non-Existing Saudi Princess Gives Pop Star Wissam Hilal A Fancy Ride!

Some Arab pop star who sings in English and likes cars, takes pictures inside some nice car. Next he knows at least two news stories about him, "Wissam Hilal Received A Car As A Gift From Saudi Princess" No, this is not a joke. But no, really he did not get a free car.

Wissam has posed those stories on his Facebook and it seems he is surprised by those fabricated and  Stupid and baseless non-news stories. I can understand that, it's a slow news day, and such websites make shit up. (Read here and here) The car you see in the picture is one of those car shows items. It's Nissan GTR 2013 .. It's does not belong to the artist and frankly he has yet to get his driving license in the United Arab Emirates where he is currently based.

Per his Facebook page

Seriously? It seems I was right when I kept my private stuff away from everyone because I kind of knew previously how people in this part of the world would think. This is a desperate attempt to ruin someone like me's image!
PS: I never met Marwa!!

The Syria native singer known for such funky and dancy hits "Single" is also celebrating a new MTV-nominated music video "Last Goodbye" I liken Wissam's style and choices to those of American music star Justin Timberlake. God knows they are both good looking, both sharply dressed and both make dazzling music.

Wissam Hilal - The Last Goodbye (Official Music Video)

P.S. This story follows another story where a handsome man from the UAE was expelled from the Saudi Kingdom (for being gorgeous) received a car as a gift from another Saudi princess.

Listen: "We Hacked You Tel-Aviv" Song Released اغنية هكرناكي يا اسرائيل علاء رضا

This is a random song by someone who has little talent yet he sings. His new song is about the anonymous hack operation at Israel. It's a current event song, that mentions even the striking prisoners. Alaa Reda has way too many lyrics for this song and his song is about bragging of the operation.

Do not know where to begin, this singer might be clueless about security systems but that did not stop him from singing about something very complicated. He does drop all kind of social media references and so on. I found this song worthy of being blogged about. President Obama even gets his names repeated in this all over the place song.

Sure the young people would find the track of interest. I do not really know what happened. alaa Reda is not the first to sing about this, but his song seems to have gone the farthest.

Video: Chafik Nibou Is The Most Bizarre Audition On Arab Idol 2

He is Moroccan and he thinks he can sing. He did a number in Arabic and another song in Spanish--according to the judges he has better luck in Spanish. But this is nothing, the cast of Arab Idol were not ready for this guy. Chafik Nibou  made a number of bizarre  claims that are if true are shocking. See when he walked into the Arab Idol on camera audition, he was really pissed off, you see it in his eyes.

  1. You guys are not important, I can make it on my own
  2. I produced my own stuff in Egypt and moved to Lebanon for more work
  3. Nasr Mahrous used to work for me
  4. Hassna Abu El Soud wrote me a song, but then changed his mind.
  5. Sherine, the Egyptian diva used to be a backup singer in my band.
Chafik Nibou is a very confident man, and it was so fresh and so funny to see the judges try to handle that. I do not think he is all that great, he does have something in his Spanish singing--he says he is from Northern Morocco. When he walked away from the show, he spilled the beans, mockery is all I got. People drinking?  They made fun of my clothes...etc.

This is so funny, and I respect Chafik Nibou for holding his ground and bragging about his past. boy does he hate Sherine? He seems to have made another enemy, Ahlam. He also might be upset for not being treated well. He hates Arab Idol--why did he take part of it? He is talking about Beirut, and the executives are mean and rude to the participants.  I could see that and I agree with him for the lack of class.

Watch: This Random Egyptian Song أبو جريشة - اللي أنت شايفة

No idea who this guy is, but someone gave him a shot at making a music video that was supposed to be funny. Maybe it's meant for people with a different taste, but I do not get it. I understand it's meant to be a treat for people who like a little laughter at the expense of the common man of Egypt.

His name is Abu Greisha and he is one of the people. He wears sporty clothes, rides a bike and looks like one of those average people. He has half a dozen of kids whom are glued to him. The odd facotr is the appearance of good ball Sha'abi singer Sha'ban Abdel Rahim on the clip. Spot them as the leader of the neighborhood watch group.

The song is about making all the wrong decisions  he tells the subject of the song to go ahead and take another wrong call. Abo Greish is not star, but his voice is not as bad as some of those voices I have heard in the psst.

Bassem Yousef Shouldn't Go To Jail, But He Should Think Twice

The famed Egyptian host of some TV show with satire news is being sued. For more on his legal woes, visit this Arabic link it details some of the charges. To be clear, Baseem is no hero of mine. You too should be tired of being told who your heroes are. I am sick of lies circulating around the internet that conservative Muslims are the ones who want Bassem Yousef in Jail. I think it's safe to say, a lot of business interest people want to see him in jail. This is not a joke, you see laws of defamation and libel are tricky even in the West. You could be in serious trouble if someone has a serious case against you.

Per US Legal Journal
Most defendants in defamation lawsuits are newspapers or publishers, which are involved in about twice as many lawsuits as are television stations. Most plaintiffs are corporations, businesspeople, entertainers and other public figures, and people involved in criminal cases, usually defendants or convicts but sometimes victims as well.

Bassem is not doing his show for free, he has a contract worth millions, and with that comes a great deal of prestige and access. I bet he enjoys all that fame and media attention he received from around the world. I love how American media is using this ordeal to further damage Egypt and get back at president Morsi--the guy who won an election.

I have one question, do you think if Bassem Yousef was a support of the president of Egypt, the international media would care what happens to them? No! Not in a million year. It's all about self-interest. CNN and such follow Bassem only because he is casing trouble in Egypt and because he is critical of the democratically elected president.

All he has to know, those media folks who cheer him on, will be with him so long as he stays on the same page with them. The moment he tries to do or say something un-american or hostile to the West, they all will jump ship. So he would lose at home and lose abroad.

Every night of the week, Bassem Yousef finds a way to call the Morsi an idiot, and when he is not on air, he is tweeting about him. As someone who holds freedom of speech to be absolute  I know there is no such thing.

Bassem Yousef is milking his 15 minutes of fame, and his friends are talking about him as if he is some modern-day Martin Luther King. MLK did not have a million dollar contract, MLK did not insult people for money, MLK did not try to embarrass his foes. Let's stop pretending Bassem is fighting the good fight. He is just fighting for a pay check.

Now, I do not want to see him jailed for stuff he said, he should not have to be subjected to a witch haunt. He must now know, that he is playing with the fat cats, and if he tries to rock the boat too much, he would be shown the door.

On another note, is Bassem Yousef being patriotic? I do not think he puts Egypt first! It only takes one deranged person to ruin the reputation of an entire nation, Bassem Yousef has entertained so many people and in the process he has mocked all things that make Egypt the place loved by so many people. Because last thing, Egypt needs is a voice that promotes divisions.

If things get serious  I am certain he would not have a hard time moving somewhere else and doing his who--I think he might actually end up doing that, I see him doing his show in Dubai or even Beirut. It's sad but Egypt right now is in a delicate state.

Hala Turk Sets Jalast On FIRE

The Gulf people like to have a good time, they spend loads of money on their parties, the good news those parties are so much fun as the people spare no expense to make them special. But the bad news only dudes dance on camera. Women can sing, but cannot dance.

Dudes, do not mind those Jalasat they mix with ladies within reason. But the guys are the only ones who can show off their dance moves--just like they do in Dupont Circle here. I have always wanted to be there for one of those sessions. The clip below from the biggest produced Jalasat assembly. Watch Hala Turk and Mashael sing their song in both Arabic and English.

Something tell me those ladies are not your typical Gulf ladies, they duo have a chemistry where they play mother daughter. You do not get many songs in languages other than Arabic, but it took this very cute and clearly spoiled girl to break the mold

Andrew W.K. Is America's Cultural Ambassador To The Middle East

Because drones, military force and tanks do not make good ambassador of America's wide cultural landscape. One rocker can build bridges and make the Middle East fall in love with America all over again by partying loudly.

In surprising and odd news of the day, the U.S. Department of State of has named Andrew W.K. the Cultural Ambassador to the Middle East. He is  an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, entertainer, motivational speaker, and music producer. He is the host of the television series Destroy Build Destroy. In November 2012, he was named a United States cultural ambassador to Bahrain. As a musician, he is perhaps best known for the 2001 hit single "Party Hard", from the album I Get Wet. Bahrain is an island, so he would have to get wet. Andrew has also lived and grew up in Ann Arabs where many Arab immigrants also live.
"This is a tremendous invitation," W.K. said in a statement on his website. "I'm very thankful to the Department of State for giving me the opportunity to visit a place I've never been before. And I feel very privileged and humbled by the chance to represent the United States of America and show the good people of Bahrain the power of positive partying. I can hardly wait for this adventure!"
The performer's website reports that W.K. will visit the Middle East "to promote partying and positive power." The story also explains that "Andrew will begin his journey the first week of December, 2012 and will visit elementary schools, the University of Bahrain, music venues, and more, all while promoting partying and world peace." Partying does help bring peace, but if the music is too loud the cops will shoe up and things may get hairy.
W.K. once told HuffPost his personal tag line would be, "I'm not here to impress you, I'm here to party with you."

Eastern European Music Arabs Dig

I have no idea why, but it seems more and more Arabs are tuning in to European music videos from the East side. Maybe because the language sounds for close to the Arabic one. It might be that there are so many Arabs living in this part of the world or the fact that Eastern Europe is very close to the Arab world culturally.

I do know this, clubs in Eastern Europe are crazy, and many Arabs attend universities and colleges in those countries so they bring back that music with them. I am impressed by the quality of the music videos they make. Sex is no taboo in those places, so you get a mixed bag of such entertainment.

I just wanted to bring your attention to a song where an actual Arab singer did a song with one of those stars Reda Al Abdallah & Cvetelina Aneva Romania and gypsy culture are hot all over Europe

The Assassination Of Haifa Wehbe And Other Jokes

Haifa Wehbe is in Turkey now vacationing with her family in a resort. She will get back to Beirut to finish working on some projects. But then a news story broke, an assassination attempt on this pop diva's life. The reports of three armed men breaking into her home with weapons (including a blade in one of their mouths) three guys.

Haifa found time to speak to the press about this exaggerated report. "This is not an assassination attempt, I am not personally targeted." Haifa added, "My home is in a safe area and my guard are there." As for the reported incident, "it's some skirmish between my guards and few regular guys" Of course she lived in an upscale neighborhood, of course she has guards and of course some deranged fans would want to try to visit her at home.

But Haifa found time also to talk up her upcoming music videos--one shot in New York in the editing stages, and more recent one shot in Beirut (Izay Ansak) also in the editing room. They will be released in the right time Haifa stated. Haifa has weathered the divorce storm very well, and has manged to escape the media circus. She had also to talk back to some of her peers who have called her out on her weight issues.

Arab Celebrities Fly First Class, Scientists Stuck In Economy

The cast of a recent comedy film flies to Kuwait in the first class section, living the video. The movie is "Miss. Mommy" The cast including Yasmeen Abdel Aziz, And Hassan Radad get to fly around in the first class section, they got to make a video of their trip living large. But the people who do the hard work and build the country by actually contributing to society are stuck in the cheap seats.

I do not hate living large, I am only making a commentary on the state of the world. People who invent build things, do not make enough money and get none of them attention. But the ones who entertain us and have little education get to walk tall in this world. Not sure who picks the tab for their trip, but I doubt they paid a red penny. They are not fastening their seat-belts and not turning off their electronic devices either.

I like those celebrities too, they make good movie and bring joy int our lives, but we have to agree they are making way too much money. In their defense, do you see them working in any other career if they do not have to act anymore.

The American Lady Who Moved To Cairo To Beat The Drum

Drummers and drum circles are a thing of hippies in the States, but in Egypt when one young American lady moves into town and beats the drum, people do not label her as such. Her name is Rookie and this is her fifth year coming to Egypt to spend the winter.

She has visited and studied the drum in India and Turkey to learn something about the drum in those parts of the world. Her parents are classical musicians where she grew up playing that type of music. It seems that Egypt has welcomed her into a band where she performs and yes there is a belly dancer.

All of a sudden there is a little boy making the news in Lebanon, he has appeared in more musical festivals that many stars who have been in the business for years. His name is George Zoghib, he is a child who can sing and he looks like a cuddly bear.

Not sure what grade he is in at school, but when it comes to music, this guy is a graduate. Not only does George sing, but he also plays music too. Qawali & Flamenco Perfect Pairing By Allah Hu

This is a very interesting fusion by the King of Qawali music from Pakistan and two gentleman from the land of the gypsies Chicuelo. Miguel Poveda. I do not know who had this idea, but I know it took some mutual appreciation and a vision from all the musicians involved.

The song is about love and God! The vocalists in both languages took the song and ran with it. It has been a long time since I was dazzled in this fashion, I think this perfect paring does it for me.

Hit The Road Son: The Arabic Hitchhiker Song

By religion and tradition, Arabs and Muslims are meant to be kind to the wayfarer so hitchhiking might work out in this part of the world. I do know if this was planned but the song is about a man who is longing for the homeland. He is living on the road, and hitching rides on his way.

It's an OK song, sadder what I can process. But it's a change. It aired on ART years ago, I think Asmail Al-Balbesy is Egyptian. These kinds of song are popular with young people who like to sit together feeling sorry for themselves.

Iraqi Iconic Singer Qahtan Al Attar Rejects Fame And Quits

He was loved form the first song, and his fame kept on growing for four decades. He decided to quit the music business 20 years ago, he shuns the spotlight and rejects going back to his earlier career. He turned it all down, the fame, the popularity and the money to live alone in seclusion.

Qahtan Al Attar immigrated to Denmark and made a home there where he has a beard and took a picture in a bakery shop near an oven. some say the store is his, others says it belongs to a friend of his. Qahtan does have a oud and he often performs in private settings.

Qahtan rose to fame in the 70s and according to friends he never liked recording songs, he was lazy and he hated the studio. Even though he is very talented and has a voice that nobody comes even close to, as one fan puts it. He did have a lot of good songs in the 80s that stand tall among the Iraqi classics. Some says he is supper sensitive  he is anti-social, others say he has complexes.

Some stories about him are legendary  he hates street language and insults, if he happens to hear on as he passes on the streets, he loses sleep over it and condemns such harsh language when the Arabic language is so beautiful. He had to walk away form his family and his friends because he appreciated privacy and longed to being along--not an easy thing to get when you live with Arabs.

Qahtan has stopped singing since the early 90s and immigrated to a number of countries until he found himself in the Denmark, a country where he can find all seclusion his soul demands. His story remains one of the mysteries many Iraqis wrestle with and there are those who boast about taking a recent picture of this legend on the streets of his new home.

One Kuwaiti Writer Wants To Ban Iraqi Music

People of Kuwait are educated, cultured and appreciate the arts. They are pioneers among many Arabs in their high sense of culture and deep sense of anything entertaining. Unfortunately, some voices in the mainstream Kuwaiti culture enjoys living in the past, likes looking backward and takes pleasure in spreading the hate of Iraq.

It was not the people of Iraq who decided to go to war with Kuwait, but rather a mad man who is gone and a regime who no longer exists. Mubarak Almo'asharjy (مبارك مزيد المعوشرجي)--whose last name means a butt hole in Arabic is taking issues with Iraqi dramas being on TV and Iraqi music playing in that country.

Instead of choosing to forgive and look forward, he wants people to boycott their brethren to the North. I am not sure if the author feels the same way about American movies and music. But Mubarak wants Kuwait to boycott all things cultural form Iraq. Mubarak is hardly the only one to pull such a stunt, many pick on Iraqi's better known artists Kathm Al Saher

  1. Kuwaiti singer Nabel Shoeel puled out of a song about Arab unity and aspirations because he learned Kathem Al Saher--an Iraqi will take part of the same song.
  2. The same singer in 2010 took a swap at Kathem and asked him to donate his very expensive watch to benefit the Iraqi children. Kathem does a lot of work and raises a lot of money for different Arab causes
  3. Promotional posters for a Kathem album in the streets of Kuwait has generated a number of lawsuits--even though the company that produces and promotes Kathem's albums is a Saudi one.
Kathem was classy about it and never answered with hate, he has always wished such voices well and had nothing but praises for his peers and people of Kuwait. This is why he might be more successful and more likable than his critics.

To be fair, most people in Kuwait have moved on their lives and have turned the page. Iraq has apologized and to the best of their efforts they have tried to make it right.  But Iraq is not the only one that gets hate letters form some tiny faction in Kuwait  during the bombing of Gaza at least two columnists wrote articles in which they celebrate it Israel and blamed Palestinians for the violence.

Ahmed Ezz Turns Down Elissa

Ahmed Ezz used to appear as a model in music videos, he did at least once in a music video for Asalah more than ten years ago. But when Elissa called and made him an offer to co-star along her side for her upcoming music video which has 200,000 dollars budget. Ahmed Ezz declined the officer.

"Asad Wa'hada" is set to film in Beirut with director Salim Turk. Elissa had called the Egyptian actor and asked him to fly to Beirut to talk to him about a collaboration. Ahmed flew to Lebanon and met with Elissa who asked him for appear in his music video. But he declined.

Then she called and told him, they company is offering 80 thousand dollars for his appearance. He also declined on the ground, that he is not a big star and wants to focus on his film career. This news items has been circulating around the internt. Not sure if this is true, who is leaking the news of the talk.

I do not know why he would say no, the money is good, but I am certain Elissa is not used to people telling her no. I am certain other tall and good looking people out there would not turn down Elissa, and they are glad to appear with her on camera for next to nothing.

Paris Hilton And Her Bags Go To The Holy City Of Mecca

Paris Hilton became famous after making a porno video and and then this video was all over the internet in 2004. She became a big player and a celebrity, known for being famous. She likes clubs, partying and selling stuff around the world. I am certain you have seen her perfume in some mall around the globe. Paris of 2012 is no big name any more, she has dwindling fan base, but nevertheless she still manages to open more stores.

But here's the new story, her line of bags is now in the holy city of Mecca. Her various products are to be found in the Mecca mall. We know this because Paris shared the news of her new story as you see below. I am all for businesses and that, but I have some reservations about the city of Mecca being a place for fashion and greed.

This is Paris Hilton's fifth store in the Saudi Kingdom and her number 42 around the world. The news of her store made some mixed waves, some welcome it others reject it. But how do the common Saudi person feels about this? This is no major insult by any mean, they have sold-out one of the most holy sites for many Muslims to American companies in exchange for few dollars.

I am ware of the ongoing debate among some Saudi Muslims, some want change to come to Mecca, a place Muslims value but do not worship. And others who want to keep it very spiritual and free of pop and commercial corruption.  Paris may not be able to visit the city of Mecca, but is this are those the kind of people Saudis do business with now?
