Klodia delayed her debut album a week due to the tragic bombing at the Alexandria church in Egypt. Klodia is the first all pop all Iraqi singer to merge in the past five years. There are a number of Iraqi singers, some of them are legends (Kathem al Saher), some are just starting their careers (Rahma from Star Academy) It's a debut album with 6 songs, so you know what you are getting, but if you are looking for an Iraqi pop star with eye candy power, you got Klodia.
01.Ahebak, the first song and it,s on of the three Iraqi songs on the album, the lyrics are fine, the flow and the vocals leave much to be desired. The music is distinctly Iraqi.
02.Bandam Awy, lyrics are not original, sounds like a poor man Haifa Wahbe song, I think you can see the influence on the delivery here. A generic pop song that might please those new listeners who care of the singer's persona not the voice
03.El Wa2t Da, the title song, one of the three Egyptian songs on the album, a better song, good pop music that keeps moving and a good dance mix as it's upbeat. Teenager girls will enjoy this one.
04.Me3azebny b Dalalo, the darkest track in the album, pleasant Iraqi traditional music, you can dance to the tune, not a fan of the song in particular, I think the voice needs to be stronger and a bit more clear. It sounds like a a boxing match, and you do not have your gloves on. It's a song that celebrates Iraqis, hope it gets some airtime.
05.Tegafiny, another Iraqi song, love the opening and the instruments utilized. A song about leaving your loved ones behind, they story of modern day Iraq, the vocals are better here, but I think Klodia's breathe can get in the way of making this song perfect.
06.Ye7anen, you know one of those Egyptian baladi dance tunes, still the vocals are not where they can be, the chorus saves the song from being too weak. The lyrics sound like a Rolla Saad song that she had sang recently. On a second listen, I think Klodia has some good material, she showed some in the middle of the song.
I think Klodia is a good star project, but she needs some voice training, and needs to find her own voice, she has to stop copying other pop stars. She needs to be herself...best they need to let her be herself. I think Klodia has potential, there is the interest and there is fan base ready o give her a chance, but her voice ought to improve.
