Spurs agree Modric fee

Tottenham have agreed a deal with Real Madrid for Luka Modric that will see the club bank £33million for the Croatian.

The fee falls someway short of Tottenham's £40million valuation but Daniel Levy believes it will be best for all concerned if he does move on and is ready to accept less.

The deal was agreed late on Saturday and Modric now just needs to agree personal terms and pass a medical, neither of which should be a problem, before a deal can be rubber stamped.

Spurs will now push on with signing a replacement and it looks as though Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Willian will arrive despite reports claiming the Ukraine club are blocking a move.

Negotiations over a £20million move are said to be well down the line and the Brazilian should be on board well before the transfer window closes at the end of the week.

Porto's Joao Moutinho, Rennes star Yann M'Vila and Fulham's Moussa Dembele are also other options for Andre Villas-Boas, should the Willian deal fall through.
