Chelsea have rejected a bid of £30m from Manchester City for defender David Luiz, according to a report today.
The Sun claim the Brazilian centre-back was the subject of the huge bid as City manager Roberto Mancini looks to bolster his depleted defence.
Sky Blues right-back Micah Richards will miss the first 10 weeks of the season.
Luiz missed last night's 4-2 win over Reading at Stamford Bridge, although it's understood that was due to an injury.
The player himself tweeted yesterday morning "Good morning #geezers ! I'm a little bit sad today, because I can't play tonight,I have pain on my knee! But ok! Come on #CFC #KTBFFH".
The Brazilian's actions of revealing his injury through Twitter angered Chelsea. It's believed the Champions League holders have fined the 25-year-old.
Manager Roberto Di Matteo said: “This social media thing is all around us now. We’ll deal with it internally.”
Luiz joined Chelsea last year during the January transfer window for a fee in the region of £20m. While his penchant for getting forward has been praised, at times his defensive ability and awareness have been questioned, with Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville memorable saying the Brazilian looked as though he was controlled by "a 10-year-old on a PlayStation".
