"Prayerful Monday " ( Question ) What is Faith & Belief ?

Have you just studied a word for a while so that it will really sink in? I am working on faith and belief. This is what I found out about the 2 words. This what the dictionary says about Faith. Confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, an idea, or a thing.
  1. belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence.
  2. loyalty or allegiance to a person or thing; especially, holding to a promise.
  3. the theological virtue defined as secure belief in God and a trusting acceptance of God's will.

Faith indicates unswerving action, devotion, and direction of self, and is often charged with emotion.

There can be more or less faith, and stronger or weaker faith, even though we have no direct way of measuring it. Faith is not a constant in people; it can be strengthened and it can become weak. You can pray that God will give more faith to you or to someone else.

belief :

  1. the mental act, condition, or habit of placing trust or confidence in another.
  2. mental acceptance and conviction in the truth, actuality, or validity of something.

  • 'belief' vs. 'faith' : 'Beliefs' are existing ideas that one holds to; 'faith' looks toward what is to come. 'Belief' relates most to knowledge and understanding; 'faith' relates most to hope and trust. 'Belief' may or may not imply a sense of certitude, whereas 'faith' does. So I have learned from my studies that you can have Faith in anything not just Christ. You can also have belief about anything. It makes a difference in a Christian life what their belief's is and what they have faith in. What do you think?
