Bassem Yousef Gets A Guilt-Trip Song On Hafez TV

A conservative Egyptian TV is taking the Freedom of Speech argument to ridicule the funny man of Egypt. Hafez TV has a song--or something pretty close to it about the satire. You do not hear music, but you hear lyrics with sharply worded words for Bassem Yousef. Also keep on mind, there are only male vocalist on this song.

They sort of put him to shame, picking on him is a fair game. They are shaming to him using religion. You get paid but you seem to forget that the big man upstairs will take issue with your lies, edits and jokes. Hafez TV is a popular network, and they have followers too, they seem not to appreciate the man and his style.

They do end the song on a call from him to join in rebuilding the country. This is a heavy song that will get some fans out there, I think it sounds a lot more sobering that some of the jokes that have been flaying around. I do not think using religion is an effective tool, I think there are so many facts that can make a far better argument.

One a serious note, Bassem Yousef was cleared of some charges and a court refused to shut down his popular show.

Egypt's Jon Stewart Is No Hero

My latest post for the Huffington Post

Bassem Youssef, the famous host of an Egyptian satire news show, is being sued. Bassem is no hero of mine, and there are countless others who share my view. Facebook is riddled with pages and groups who declare their lack of affection for Bassem Youssef. The former heart surgeon has been gaining fans and building an audience throughout the Arab world with his jokes and zingers. At the get-go, I loved his jokes and delivery. I thought he was the missing breeze of comedy the Arab world has been missing.

Beer With Jesus Song Falls Flat On Fox News

Mainstream country music artist Thomas Rhett on Monday appeared on Fox News to perform his hit “Beer With Jesus.” I do not think this is an honorable way to celebrate the savior. He is not some lonely buddy sitting in a bar waiting for his beer and chatting up random strangers.

such songs make it easy for people to shoot their own religion in the foot, no need to satirize faith anymore, the believers are now doing the work. How about all those Christian groups and sects who do not drink beer. Will they be saved? In his quest for fame Thomas Rhett steps all over his own savior.

“If I could have a beer with Jesus / Heaven knows I’d sip it nice and slow / I’d try to pick a place that ain’t too crowded / Or gladly go wherever he wants to go,” Rhett sings.

“You can bet I’d order up a couple tall ones / Tell the waitress put ‘em on my tab / I’d be sure to let him do the talkin’ / Careful when I got the chance to ask,” the song continues.

“Why not just have some water with Jesus?” Christian News reader Marshall Chandler asked last year. “This is a prime example of how far down the toilet country music has gotten.” Rhett’s song debuted at 49 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart in September, and had reached the number 26 spot by last week.

He is certainly entitled to writing this song, his freedom to express and worship is guaranteed  It's his choice and taste I question.

Assi el Hellani, Is It Time To Go? عاصي الحلاني - مصيبة

This is one disposable and market-driven song by the glowingly boring pop star Assi el Hellani! He is already overstretched, and this Khaliji song of his has the word stinks all over it. Not to mention the model is in his own daughter's age. I can understand wanting to live forever and look your best, but at least do not make it obvious that you are trying too hard.

Seriously, where is his face this guy? where does the real Assi begins and the botox shots end? I freaking find no flavor in this music video, and now the title is funny in a bad way. The song's title translates to Disaster, and this is is the one word that can describe this witless dim song.

I thought Assi want us to think of him as the serious voice form Lebanon. While he is a big talent, his talent has been out of touch lately and I mean like four years. Where's his soul? I can understand wanting to be out there right now, but with this song?

I realize I might not be the intended target for this dull song, the Gulf is. But is he is a huge draw over there? I mean do locals in places like Saudi Arabia, and Qatar find him appealing?

Listen: محمود العسيلى - طعم الحياة ميتقاومش 2013 Mahmoud Esseily Sells Potato Chips

For a well educated pop star who makes good music more often than throwaway stuff, the stakes are higher. One of his songs is being used to tell Egyptians the taste of life is irresistible with a bag of potato chips. He is not promoting the brand with his own voice, he is calling for joy, a better way to endorse a product without actually endorsing it.

I like Mahmoud Esseily and think he makes better pop songs that most of his peers, his humor and his serious side allow him to come up with incredible songs that others enjoy. Not sure what good does it to do to sing for a potato chips. Sure he gets to take home a paycheck, but really? I might be too critical, but art should be separated from business. However, there's no shame in making money--it's his full-time job.

I would though use this fame to sell better products not the ones that make you obese. He is hardly the only star whose songs are being used to sell goods--there are many all over the globe.

Listen: May Kassab Sticks It To Faux Revolutionaries اغنية مي كساب - كله بيتمنظر -

May Kassab has never been a politician or a revolutionary, but she is one of the people. And it seems that the people including May are sick of the protesting and the Pickering at home. She is not the only frustrated with the people who are not willing to chill.

Her biggest disappointment with those people who pretend to be patriots, revolutionaries and rebels when in reality, they are cashing in the bank. This is a real track that speaks volumes of the reality in today's Egypt. The sons of bitches are selling the country out...they can suck it the song says. Thugs are politicians and every person speaks politics now.

It's a shame and the songs calls their bullshit spot on. It's for a show as goes the song. I did not think I would ever see May get political, but I approve of her new song, the reality is messed up. People want normalcy back

Faux Pas When Lebanese Songstresses Fake It

The fuax pas is not limited to a certain person, it's an error or a blunder when someone tries to do something but fail. This is specially interesting to see Lebanese entertainers who are hungry for money and have little dignity try to pass themselves as something they are not.

I am not talking about plastic surgeries  looks, or dance acts. There are plenty of examples of that. But today, I have run into a clip of two youngish Lebanese females entertainers on a UAE TV, when the show host asked them to speak in the local dialect. Naturally  guys like to see women try to get out of their comfort zone.

I do not think Yara and Myraim are best of friends -note how Myriam tried to ignore Yara when she greeted the panel. They are both two pop stars who are in it for a quick paycheck. They were asked to show off their dialect, and it seemed forced. Both tried to outdo the other, giving that both of them have have released an album with that dialect, it's a shame they would do anything asked of them on such shows.

Yes, Let's Make Another Crappy Egyptian Song

You tongue is dripping almonds, your posture is like a banana, your cheek are apples. This is how the song starts, a guy harassing what looks like a lady. And then they wonder about the increased waves of sexual harassment in the streets. Blame such sleazy infest movies.

Women do not like a guy who dances like a clown spitting lines toward them about how good looking they are. So ban those types and maybe then you get your lowered rate of sexual harassment. The song in question is promotional song for "Abdo Mootah" a movie about gang-banger drug dealer who wants to get rich quick.

If your music video has a belly dancer, it will get views and this it will make money. If you want to promote a shitty movie, bring out the dancer and have a guy do one sh'abi style song. The worst part is when they put a talented female singer in this shitty song--she deserves more. Boosy can sing and has a happy voice and high energy.

Yara Doen's Want To Sing, She Sells Stuff Now

PIAGET just hired Lebanese singer Yara to be their front in the Middle East area. Yara has endorsed other companies in the past mostly jewelry and underwear. The last four news stories with Yara on them has been strange. In three of those stories, she wants to sell stuff and in one she was smoking in Ramadan in Algeria.

Yara stopped being herself nowadays, and she wants to college money. she has turned her good name and career into an ATM. She has not released anything new in ages now. But she always seems to finds time to shoot pictures for ads and what's not.

The endorsement deal was announced in Dubai in a press conference where the company's manger expressed excitement to work with Yara. Yara said she has always been a fan of the jewelry line of PIAGET, as she has bough some of their products before.

Once again, I think Fadel Shaker was right about something when he dubbed Yara as trash and someone who pursues money wherever she may finds it. There was once a good girl who made good music and brought joy into the lives of those who give her a chance. This time, it's all about Yara's pocketbook. No one hates money, but in few months Yara will be nothing more than a walking billboard.

Picture: @HaifaWehbe Cannot Stop Touching Her Breasts

Really? Am I wrong to point that out? Why is the pop diva circulating a picture of herself holding her breasts on camera? Is this what divorced people do now? Are those boobs even real? I have also ways said that Haifa Wehbe is a smart entertainer who has a big heart. But she is also a shameless self-promoter. Even when she was going through a divorce, she fled to New York City to shoot a music video.

She has always gone for sexy and revealing when she could, but this is a new low even for Haifa. I am sure some women are now talking about her being old and divorces  so she is showing them her assets now and the boys are winning this. Keep on mind Haifa Wehbe has made music videos for kids and and an entire album for the little ones. Not sure how her breasts connect withe the innocent among us.

This picture was shot in NYC as the new and earth shattering MJK music video for the diva is about to land in time for the holidays and mega concert appearances. See the promo for the upcoming music video.

An Egyptian Artist Chases Another With A Gun And Thugs

Eman El Bahr Darwish, the head of the singers guild in Egypt had to run away from the office building where his office used to be. His deputy composer and singer Mostafa Kamel who has been locked in a feud with him, heard that Eman was back in his office so he brought his personal gun and few of his friends and headed to the office were Eman was.

Eman learned of the plan so he ran away for his life form the back stairs. Mostafa Kamel chased after Eman and showed off his gun. This has been reported on a number of entertainment websites. Eman got in his car and sped away form the area.

The beef between those two is as follows, Mostafa Kamel has accused Eman of stealing money for the the artists guild, and getting an illegal electricity line without paying for it. Eman said he has a verdict that cleared him for stealing the 15 thousand Egyptian pound. And he has no property in the area where he was supposed to have an illegal electricity line. Eman maintains this is due to political differences where he thinks Mostafa Kamel is a big fan of the Mubarak regime party.

This is a sad say when singers chase one another with guns and thugs. This is an issue that should not be taken lightly. Eman is a legend and Kamel is one of the most celebrated composers and song writers in Egypt. They should not be showing this kind of stunts. It does everyone wrong.

The Song For Those Mubarak Loyalists اغنية احمى شعبك - عمرو مصطفى , خالد عز , هشام صادق

Protest the people of Egypt from your people! This is the call a bunch of Egyptian singers are shaming the president of their land--Morsi. Who the hell are you says the song? The most loyal Mubarak cheerleader Amr Mousta stands behind this song and he is not alone this time. He has brought tow other nobodys who are nostalgic to the old regime.

The song is set against the Muslim Brotherhood, our blood is decorating your hands. One question, are you the son of an Egyptian? What do you guys think? Did Morsi come from a wall or were his parents not full blooded Egyptians.

Those people like to pretend they have voted for a saint in office, not a politician. Nothing seems to please those people at the moment. I do not know what will happen next, but either way Egypt is not going to go away, it will survive this.

Lame! Rotana Is A Car Dealership For Volkswagen

German Volkswagen wants to sell cars, Rotana wants to make music video for less. Together they can achieve their perspective goals. Rotana has singed a deal with the car company's Middle East division where music videos and varios entertainment programming will place Volkswagen  cars.

The first Rotana star to jump into the promotion game is none other than the Lebanese pop star Wael Kfoury who will have a new music video soon. He drives Volkswagen! Their first join event was held in Dubai at YAS island event center. Many Rotana affiliates have turned out for the event and the screening of Wael Kfoury's footage from the new music video . The contract would last for a year which means any music video made by Rotana will feature a Volkswagen.

Those two companies are turning Arabic music video into prolonged commercials, and the music appreciators into consumers.

Footballer Lionel Messi Arrested While In The Saudi Kingdom

The Saudi Kingdom has invited the world class soccer player and legendary ball player Messi . There were so many dudes wanting to see and touch the legend that he had to be arrested by two or four Saudi policemen to walk him away form the crazed men of Saudi Arabia--who happen to love soccer.

The scene was so chaotic that the sponsoring network reporter was kicked out of the scene  and nothing went according to plan. The super star Messi joined his country men soccer team as they play against the national Saudi soccer team on Wednesday. Messi did nothing wrong to earn him that kind of harsh police treatment, that wanted to keep him safe while groping him.

The poor Saudi anchor who wanted to speak to the soccer legend. But that was not the time nor the place for civility. And by the way, they have a gun to Messi's head--all to keep him safe form his fans. I wonder what his enemies would do? The international press took this picture and the chaos and ran with it, the only losers here are the Saudi name.

It seems the security officers on the airport site, were letting in their relatives and friends to get to the airport in the hopes they would see the legend of Messi. But this is wrong as Saudi Arabia has turned itself into worshiping idols of soccer. I know the Saudi pres were the first to speak ill of this fiasco caused by lack of organization and zealot soccer fans.

You can see form the video below, this was amateur hour in Saudi Arabia and everybody pushed everybody around the airport gate. This i a shame to the Kingdom, they could have done a better job managing the event. This does not reflect too well on Saudi Arabia, its people and its culture.

Shame @ Tyche! Jordan's Elites Keep Local Press Out

Jordan had a big showoff awards last week, and they have invited every Arab celebrity on the planet to attend and get an award. Arab journalists were welcome with open arms, no so much the Jordanian ones, according to a number of reports.

It seems that organizers wanted to pimp out their country to their Arab peers, but not to the local press. Sure, some might take an issue with that. But I want to be fair, some people claim to be press to get access to those awards, some fail to show credentials and some just want to have a good time. So it's not uncommon for random people to use the press excuse.

But it can also be that the organizers, wanted to let only a certain people who work for a certain press entities.  Those allegations were made by Reaction TV where one of the organizers Mohamed Al-Ashy were called out on being a "Racist" as he lets the non Jordanian press in, but not the ones from Jordan. They should not humiliate the Jordanian journalist at home or anywhere.

Stupid Sunnis And Idiotic Shia Bicker Over A Tasteless Song

A dumb movie producer who has no college education, a silly dancer who got no class and a bone headed movie actor were involved in a movie where an offensives songs played. The movie is Abdu Mota, the dancer is Dina, the producer is Ahmed Elsobky, and the actor is Mohamed Ramadan.

They put a song where the name of the daughter of the prophet comes up. This is a folkloric song that usually goes with no dance, a plea for help by those who do not really understand the teachings of Islam. All hell broke lose when the dancer Dina started dancing to that song "يا طاهرة"  , I think this is more offensive than the Mohammed movie.  Such acts represent stupid people who have no class and little respect for their own religion. As a Muslim, I find it disrespectful to my faith.

Now the censors in Egypt and the religious authorities often review the movies and grant them permission to release to the public. This time censorship did not do its job and the movie was releasing offending all those Muslims who have seen it Sunni and Shia.

What happens next?

Someone protested the movie, a reporter wrote about the bad taste song and the movie was taken out for a second review by the Mufti (supreme religious authority in some countries). The Mufti asked for the song to be removed. Shias of Egypt made a show out of this, and made waves of criticism for the song. All Muslims should be insulted by this silly and tasteless song. And since this has became a much deeper issue, who owns the legacy of the prophet?

The Shia Muslims things they are the rightful owner of the prophet's household and family since they affiliate with the house of Ali more. The Sunnis also have a claim and I think both want the same thing, they just have a different attitude about it. The movie has made 17 million Egyptian pound, it has claimed the top spot in the Egyptian cinema.

So one of the media personalty hosted the TV star, and the producer on its show and took a call from a Shia scholar from Egypt. Things got complicated as the idiotic actor thought the Shia scholar was questioning his deep commitment to Islam. The actor lost his cool as he defended his faith, but forgot that he was in the movie where they make a mockery of some of Islam's finest people.

I find my Shia brother to be correct here, and the Sunni sleaze actor to be wrong. This would not have been an issue if people did the right thing and included a more broad view of their work. The Shia think they own the narrative of the prophet's life through lineage to his grandsons. While I respect many of their views, I do not have to agree with everything.

Plus thanks to the Saudi money, Shia now means Iran and Iran in some Arab minds is a big threat--I do not think Iranian people are my enemies.  My enemies have chosen to be so, and I know every one of them. So those hot headed Sunni few who got worked up, need to chill. The song was wrong and Dina and her moronic producer should know better.

Now to be fair, the movie makers made the mistake not the Sunnis, and the Shia are right to protest an bring change to this shitty industry. The song has been removed, but the producers argue they removed it out of respect for the Mufti, not out of respect for the Shia. While their stand is backward, they should remove the song out of goodness of their hearts.

Ahmad Hawili Shames Violent Politicians احمد حويلي - كم روح 2012 فيديو كليب

Children and violence are things we do not like to think about. But all over the world children are subjected to violent acts and sometimes they are asked to use violent on others. Violence in our schools too, and the only ones making a profit are the politicians.

It took new comer Ahmed Hweli, a guy who seems like a bleeding heart for what he sees on his TV screen around the world and at home.  This song is meant to give those senseless politicians and leaders some shame and guilt for not stopping the murders. They have divided us, they have conquered us, and have kills us, what else they want...cries the song.

I like the portion of the music video where the leader gives his kids a birthday party at home when they are safe and the little boy outside is suffering. They stole our land, their stole form our children, the song goes. This song is not about whining anymore, it's about taking stand and being the change one needs to see.

The arits kepy his song and his music video vague in order to appeal to more people in more countries. This song can be about Syria, Lebanon, Palestine  Libya, Iraq and few other places. This is how you make a broad topic specific--each person has to do the work. Just leave us alone is not a strategy.

Saad Soghayar: The Jackass Meets The Talentless

Ammar or Qamar, is a Lebanese B list singer who does not have a good name in the business--she tried to accuse a rich guy of fathering her out of wedlock baby. He is not even a man, he does not move like one for sure and he sleeps with anything that walks or so is his reputation.

Here's what passes for a duet nowadays, a singer and another one she danced and sings and so does he. The song does not matter, because it really sucks. She is there to look good and show some skin, he got nothing that resembles decency. This is like a PG-13 rated strip club scene.

This clip comes to promote a movie that so far has failed to make anything back to its investors. A movie that  have not seen and do not plan to. So far they have featured at least 4 songs from the movie. They even use a little girl to carry an adult language--a sleazy kind.

Someone Should Regret This Awful Music Video

I hate the hair, I hate the outfits and lack of style, I resent the cheap studio set up, I do not buy the Arab biker thing. And I do not appreciate the married man taking his ring out of his finger.

The singer is clearly obese, and the models are thin. There's cheesy Karaoke music, but that was the 90s and everyone was just copping MTV and thinking it would translate well. not this song. I do not even recall this song making any waves, it should remain in the past where it belongs.
